XI controls

XI controls please. No target filters or any other stuff. Tabbing through pc/npc alike. arrow keys for menus and inventory. No mouse or gamepad needed, just a keyboard. An option for simple, FFXI controls. Please.

I do kind of miss being able to play with both hands on the keyboard. I actually used the WASD IJKL laptop configuration, and frankly it was pretty great.

Is it just me or was tabbing through enemies in FFXI a lot more reliable than FFXIV? It frustrates me sometimes that if I'm tabbing through enemies around me that it'll often not target the stuff closest to me and sometimes go for something waaaay off to the side or in the distance before targeting something else which is much closer.

It doesn't target nearest to farthest, it targets left to right. This is why it also jumps around randomly if things are moving.

I've also tried to set up my keybindings so that I only have to use the keyboard. I'm having moderate success at this.

I still have to use the mouse to move crap between my retainer and my inventory, mainly because I can't figure out what setting is the one for moving to the next tab of the inventory.

I also have some serious issues with targeting. It seems to want to target the farthest freaking thing from me, unless I rotate the camera a certain way.

I'm probably missing something obvious, but the way they describe some functions in the keybinding settings, it's not always clear what they're referring to ><

Hm... I think if you guys go through every single option, you'll find that you can definitely play with just a keyboard. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's highly customizable. I play with almost no mouse, and I feel like I couldn't possibly have better, faster control over everything I want to do... that includes targeting.

Color me confused... But what's the issue with playing with a mouse? I don't use it to move unless I'm in a boss fight, and then, it's mainly just to move the camera quickly so I don't miss things going on around me and get hit by anything.

feel free to rebind the keys... or play FFXI.

The controls for this game are easier and simpler than FFXI, so I don't know what you're having trouble with. It's very possible to play with just the keyboard, though, I don't know why you'd want to when the mouse is actually useable in this game. The only reason people didn't use the mouse in XI was because the mouse input in that game was garbage. You only want xi controls because you're used to them, not because they're better. Get used to the current controls, and you'll realize how superior they actually are.

Anyway, you can rebind the keys, so I don't know why you posted here. you can pretty much make the game control the same as XI (Which, by the way, XI had a "compact" keyboard mode which made the controls very much like how they are currently in this game. I always used that mode because using the numpad or arrow keys slowed things down- It's much easier to control the game and also chat when you can keep both your hands on the main part of the keyboard.)

What OP wants is what many of us used to play in FFXI. Hoping they implement it. But me personaly have converted to joypad (also played with pad in my last year of FFXI) thanks to not so fun tendonindits. (no i didnt get it from keyboard. But keyboard isnt giving my arms rest when that is needed.. Working 10 hours a day at cpmuter, so when home its joy time

But hope SE will make it possible to use keyboard like in ffxi.

What OP want is already ingame. He must only do the last step and rebind his keys.

FFXI had controller/gamepads etc I used them since ever.
