Miner/Botanist -- Lockup when accessing a menu while gathering.

This has happened in two different locations.

First instance:
-Using Botanist Lv. 35
-Stealth Activated.
-Selected Lush Vegetation to harvest.
-Opened Menu with Start Button on gamepad.
-Scrolled to Gathering Recipes.
-Closed menu.
- Lockup, no response from controller input.
-Forced Exit using Close Window (windowed mode).
-Upon attempting to log back in, error 1017 first, followed by 'Unable to update the Group NA/EU character list.

Second Instance:
-Using Miner Lv.50 in Horizon's Edge (NE near Copperbell entrance)
-Selected Mineral Deposit.
-Recieved Party invite.
-Declined Party invite.
-Confirmed Decline Party invite.
-Pressed the Circle Buttons to back out of Menu.
-No response from Gamepad buttons.
-Forced Exit using Close Window button (windowed mode).
-Upon attempting to log back in, error 1017, followed by message 'Unable to Update the Group NA/EU character list.

Not sure if you need more info, I'm also playing on PC.

I second this. It requires a restart UNLESS you can get a mob to hit you to interrupt your gathering:

Area and coordinates: Outside Copperbell Mines (Western Thanalan X:27 Y:17)
Steps:
1. Be using a controller on PC
2. Initiate gathering process
3. Start gathering items
4. During gathering process, open main menu (press start)
5. Close main menu
6. Gathering window disappears, unable to resume gathering. Unable to move as character is still 'gathering'. Chatting still works, nothing else does. Only way to fix is to get hit by a mob or to restart game.

Im the third one,
Same thing happening to me. Was gathering using gamepad(both botanist or mining) and everytime i open my menu, it closed m gathering window. Unable to do anything except for chatting. I waited for 10 minutes but still stucked and have to logout to fix the problem. Im using pc version and was wondering if ps3 version has this problem.
Ps: i still can open my menu screen while stucked, but cant choose logout option so i need to press alt f4
