    voices

the game is very quiet. Other games have voices for their NPcs, and quests, as standard..please can you implement something along those lines, so that it feels more like a living world. So that we don't have to just read the story/quests , the mouths of the Npcs are moving but no sound..
With voices the game would be awesome

Can you imagine how many voice actors they'd have to hire??? Unless you want really crappy voiceacting... I don't. Some of the major quests CG sequences already have voices though.

FF11 revolutionized MMO's by including cut-scenes. I'm sure building all that fully rendered CG wasn't cheap either. I did feel a tad let down with the lack of voice-overs. I won't go as far to demand they add more voice-over content, but Yoshi-P should see this as something of interest, and at least consider it (or explain why they won't consider it).

Actually it just popularised them >.> Other MMORPG's, like Taleseaver, were doing it long before XI was kicking about the internet.

That being said... while voice overs in all cut-scenes at least might be fine, I think it might become a bit wearisome for every single NPC, not to mention, as others have said, it's a prohibitively expensive endeavor for a very transient return. This is the sort of thing companies like EA and Blizzard do when they've got several million dollars burning a hole in their pockets and a great deal of time on their hands.

The game so speechless... Maybe some crowd voices in cities? Just remember first CS in Ul'dah! So many sounds. Or Zanarkand in FFX before blitz match. At least simple "Hello" when you start to speak with NPC. And not right now, someday.
I realy love game like it is, but little more live in cities would be great.

Fully voicing all the dialogue of every single NPC would probably be too expensive, but SE could certainly add some generic phrases when you click on an NPC, such as "Hello!" or "Good day!" And when you close the dialogue window, the NPC could say another phrase, such as "Good bye!" or "Twelve be good!" or "Keep your feet on the ground!"

The actual dialogue itself wouldn't have to be voiced, but it would be nice to have a few simple greeting phrases like other MMOs.

Well.... no. It doesn't take massive voice acting nor megabucks to voice every single NPC in the game. As long as you don't care if they get repetitious.

I was in Warhammer Online for quite some time. Every character in the game, PC and NPC is voiced. Same handful of phrases for each race / gender. No difference in what you hear clicking on a PC or NPC. No septate scripting for quests, all those were written.

I could go for voiced CSs, but they then have to have voicing for the PCs in the CSs. Not that hard here, we choose from 3 voices / race & gender, but it could be expensive.

This would be great but the time needed t hire and money needed to hire could be overwhelming for them since they haven't collected a single penny from subscriptions yet.

I would also like to see more voice acting in the game and less excuses from fans about why it's just too expensive for a huge company like Square-Enix to hire voice actors, LOL.

Hrmmm, they don't have to hire people like Robin Williams and Tom Hanks to voice act, and it would make the game much more immersive imo. Voice acting please.

As far as making money, they have sold alot of copies of FFXIV and I anticipate that they will start charging money at some point so the voice acting would be one more reason to play this game. A good investment if you ask me, adding to the richness of any story line which FF is famous for.
