On the matter of "morals", yes, it is "selfish"to stay logged in.But that doesn't make those who do even close to bad people. On the flipside, telling people to give up their spot in line so you can have an infinitesimally larger chance of getting in faster is equally selfish. And you wanna know who the REAL "terrible scum" are? Those, like most in this topic, who are harassing and threatening and name calling others because they don't get their way. THAT is the true selfish, disgusting morally, reprehensible behavior. Not afking in a fucking VIDEO GAME.

My LS and FC mates logging off doesn't make life easier for us - we would not be able to play together as we would all log in at different times due to the 1017 error.

We probably are all wanting to play at the SAME TIMES. (probably not actually)

Therefore, it's a "first come, first served" situation, unless SE makes sure that everyone who has a character on our server can log in at anytime.

So you're telling me that none of you will ever use the market wards or duty finder? Considering you all apparently need to be on at the same time to function properly, I can't imagine you're powerful enough to take down higher tier fates on your own, so you'll be needing outsiders for that too.

Anyone else hoping that they throw out a wave of temp bans to all the afk abusers?

I would go through the logs and look for anyone with an afk tag of over 8 hours and summon forth the banhammer!

Rolling Restarts every 12 hours would be better though.

Sadly, I just cancelled the game and took my game back to GameStop. The funny thing is, GameStop accepted the return as they know the failures of FFXIV launch. I am trying to log in at 1a in the morning where you would think it would be safe....NOPE, due to the fact that SE doesn't implement AFK, people stay logged in and thus others can't get in.

When an AFK system is in place, I will resub and I bet I am not alone in the matter. To defend this and say, BE PATIENT, GIVE THEM TIME, etc; um.....NO.

Seriously, it takes few lines of code to implement the rule. Save thousands of dollars and stop adding new servers (as I heard what is happening and no wonder why the first revision failed). Rolling server restarts isn't the answer too, JUST WRITE THE STUPID AFK CODE.

Game is amazing, launch is horrid. I will try later in time (unless when elder scrolls is out and I won't even bother coming back). Oh, in before "one less login to worry about". Yep, you are right, but Square Enix gets to suffer.

LOL seriously? AFK'ers may be selfish but there's nothing they're doing that violates the terms of service. You need to get a grip.

Even if they had an AFK system in place you'd still have trouble logging in because the Lobby and Login servers are FUBAR. Most of my issues have come from disappearing NA server lists, a greyed out Start button or getting booted while zoning.

If a single user stays afk in game for 16 hours and prevents two seperate players from playing in either 8 hour block, how much of the community is getting the shaft? If somebody has been doing this every night for since launch, they more than deserve to be booted off the server for a few hours. Plain and simple.

Also I love how you cling onto the first sentence and ignore my last. Are you trying to defend yourself from something?
