They probably already have the function to kick AFK players. It's a simple line of programming language, as opposed to purchasing additional servers and installing necessary software, which is taking days.

Main problem is the AFK system would not completely clear the 1017 errors, as someone already said. If you kick a hand full of afk people, then a hand full of players would get in, yet there are thousands of players wanting to play they'd get 1017 as well.

Adding more hardware is a better fix than the afk system... if it is needed, after they finish testing the new hardware/servers/worlds then they will add it.

And being honest, knowing people looking at the loopholes, people would just create macros to cast a skill every X time to avoid being kicked with the AFK system. Sorry if this gave people ideas, but it would happen sooner or later.

That's what people do in GW2 when in World vs World when it is 99.9% of the time full.

Shunning someone who would push a person out of their wheelchair and laugh at them is not bullying. Nor is calling that person a prick. I never said we would persecute anyone. I just said we'd B-list him and talk and laugh about him later. lol

you know nothing about the person on the other side to make the wild assumption that he would, in fact, push someone out of a wheelchair and laugh. the biggest 'crime' you have knowledge of him committing is something as insignificant as refusing to log out of a game because he values his play time over people he won't ever know or meet.

where are you getting all of these facts about people? someone staying logged in in a MMO doesn't make them a bad person whatsoever, because it's something so trivial in the grand scheme of things. yet you and a bunch of others think you have grounds to judge someone's entire moral character off this?

it's absurd, and definitely isn't something i'd classify under 'making the world a better place'.

I have no hate towards those who stay logged in. They paid for the game, and they're playing it the only way Square will allow.

All hate should be directed at Square for botching this launch. They knew how many pre-orders they were getting. They knew there would be more players in NA/EU than in Japan, yet they still gave Japan plenty of servers to get started, and it wasn't until NA/EU players started rolling on the Japanese servers to play that they finally said action would be taken to fix the problem.

In addition to game time, everyone better get a free server transfer, because I know a lot of friends have been split up because of this nonsense.

I used the wheelcair thing as an example to make a point. Good grief. lol Also, for as little as I know about the other person, I get the feeling would selfishly screw someone over just to get his own. With all MMO's there are exploits. These exploits are for the dev's to find and eliminate. Not saying your wrong about the selfish campers but its more SE fault for not making the log in Que that EVERYONE suggested since beta started... for a game that cost $60 brand new... and another $30 just to be able to play your $60 game still.... that also costs 15 bucks a month on top of that

It is really sad how people try to justify their entitlement an teenage arrogance,rudeness, an silly schoolyard reasons why it isn't their fault that they are making everyone's life hard.

I had a young lad few years ago tried to steal a car, an when I saw him an stopped him (after calling the old bill) he was heard to tell the coppa "It isn't MY FAULT!! the keys were in the car, you cant arrest me because its the owners fault for not taking the keys out"....
Young entitled generation we have today never take responsibility for anything, its always someone els fault. Be it a car thief or SE's fault for letting them afk all night.Reading these forums now its become plain that today MMO's have no community, just a mass of self entitled brats out to screw everyone for everything.


As for us old farts, I will apologize to SE/Yoshi for some NA rudeness an greed seen in this forum. We are not all like that, an in fact many of us show respect where due an can thank SE for making a great fun game that will of coarse get fixed over time.

As a final thought on this entire thing, I highly recommend NA players who want community an friendliness, play on JP servers like myself when my friends are not on. They are FAR an away superior in friendliness an community than can ever be found on an NA server.

you're still jumping to conclusions about people with little hard evidence, though. all i'm saying is that there are various shades of morality, not just black and white. you could have someone who doesn't want to log off during this situation, which seems to be a big deal to you -- but then he could also be a pretty great guy overall. you just can't judge somebody on something so silly of an issue like this, where there really is no right or wrong. there are no lives on the line, nobody's well being is at stake. it is, at it's core, people wanting to play a computer game.

it's not the afk player's fault this whole situation arised -- it's SE's due to being unprepared. i'm just baffled that these meaningless discussions even rise up, as if people just need to antagonize each other until their problems are fixed and they're occupied with something else.

anyway -- i'm done here. internet arguments aren't usually my thing, as people do never see eye to eye here. but with how ridiculous this whole situation has gotten i felt i had to say something. in a month's time this whole situation will be an obscure memory for everyone involved.

and while they do that the people who are sitting trying to accualy PLAY the game now cant because of the countless people who dont log off when they leave.
best part is when it took me 2 hours to get in then join a dungeon to get a server issue and get disconnected and now I could not get back in.

As rocky as launches go, how a company reacts to the problem
Determines who stays. Who goes. 27th was launch, problems existed before this, and sorting that out should be out ASAP not a week later.

On a personal note what annoys me is the fact i have to sit by my

And get on with other things. If im 100,000 in line thats cool i can watch a movie

The only difference between the people that won't log out and the people that are mad about them not logging out is how honest they are about being selfish (and how lucky they are to have gotten in to begin with).
