    Length Casted Buffs Last

    One user has complained that Protect and Shell are broken and do not assist as much as they used too, but in their thread someone brought up the point that Buffs just do not last very long.

    As a point of discussion.

    How long should Buffs Last?

    If you were pacing for say a Instanced Dungeon how often would the normal party need to stop and rebuff before continuing?

    Or a 30 Minute NM Fight?


    Should buffs last longer if you are in a full 8 man party (A Benefit of the Full Party Status?)

    Should the difference between if a Magic Class or a Warrior class determine the buff?

    If they add Tiers of Buffs should higher tiers last longer or shorter for giving a higher amount of protection from damage or assistance to damage output?

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders.     Mages already can basically afk and not pay attention at all spamming random cures and spells, at least make them have to rebuff every 3-5 mins? Cmon, it's not like MP is limited at all or buffs cost a lot.

    This has a thread in the gameplay sub-forum.

    I agree that it needs to be 30 mins on shell and protect at least, MP is not the issue here, I rarely cast protect and shell these days because it fades so fast (and has very little effect) I have better things to do than be a buff whore.

    Better things to do? What? Spam spirit dart and cure/sacrifice/random nukes without a thought in the world? Mages take almost no skil to play right now, why dumb them down even further?

    I very rarely spam spirit dart when DDing, you are obviously playing the game wrong, you keep suggesting spamming 1111, well try doing something different you might surprise yourself.

    As a conjurer first thing I do is debuff it with an elemental DOT based on its weakness, Then I pop Profundity II and a Tier 2 based on the elemental DOT I previously cast, then I cast a Tier 1 spell based on the elemental DOT I previously cast.

    If you are healing you may have time to throw buffs out but thats not the way I play my conjurer.

    Sure its not rocket science but its more than just standing there spamming 1 as you seem to claim.

    actually as a thm i use a lot of skills...3 dots, paralyze, slow, scourge+banish+shadosear, cures, buffs, absorbs if i have chance.If you think a proper mage just cast heals, then they are just lazy.

    I'm speaking of a battle with a proper duration, like NM, not leves

    That's randomly spamming spells, lol. When I play THM I basically spam every ability on my bar that isn't on CD, while juggling heals, that's so easy and thoughtless, sorry.

    The debuffs have such long cooldowns that are longer than the duration of the debuff, so you don't even have to watch for debuffs fading to reapply them :/

    Is spell A-Z on CD? No? Use it. All spells on CD? Spirit dart or cure spam........

    Nerfing the strength of AOE and tweaking enmity should take care of that

    I'm not really sure if the protect/shell is supposed to be a long or short buff, traditionally in ff games they provide a noticeable buff but typically dont last the entire way through a long fight. In this they're just long enough to last through one long fight or like 10 short ones..

    so i'm thinking either uh..

    Lengthen to 8 minutes or

    buff protection a lot,shorten to 1-2 minutes.

    Mar def buff is way too long, what's the point with a buff that long as there's no cost to using it!? I just have to take out my weapon and do the lame animation every time it wears off while not in battle.

    Attack buff is way too short if it's supposed to make me NOT use it with the bloodbath skill you do know it's not short enough for that but short enough to make it's use with 2 skills annoying. Speaking of which you do know scrolling the skill bar with d-pad is about as fun as poking your eye with a fork?

    Yay disorient is fun but to get it to have any effect I need to cast it 3 times (taking a dump animation again) and during that time I could already kill that mob.
