My character has been deleted?

Apologies up front if I've missed something and this has an obvious solution and/or has been posted about before, this is my first post in any forum I believe

I started up the game (on PS3) this morning and I could log in, but my character is gone. I have the option to create a new one and nothing more. I know I logged out properly when last I played (about two nights ago). Oddly when creating this forum profile it had my character available for my forum avatar, does that mean my character is still around and it is just a temporary glitch?

Nothing to panic about. It's just not loading your char. Happens a lot, usually when you aren't able to connect to the server so you just see the character creation background with no "you". World and New character are there whether your existing one is there or not.

Are you getting an error message when you log in? I've had this issue with not being able to access my two characters in game, I just logged out and waited and they eventually re-appeared. I'm assuming it's an error with the servers, since it's been having a few issues, so probably nothing too serious to worry about ^^

Thanks you for the advice people, I tried signing back in several times over the last 30 minutes and he just reappeared. Great as I was going to return the game had the error been permanent. I wouldn't want to get invested in the game with that possible glitch looming over my head!

Have a PC account and I can't find my character either. I first checked over twelve hours ago and lost my character. Checked now and it still isn't there.

Kaidul, you can log in through the mog station, and try the hotlinked version of your character name that should be visible there - it would take you to the lodestone page for your character, even when logged out. I also am unable to log in through the official site but used this method to confirm that my character has not been deleted.

Hey I've come across a new problem with this now, once it let me log back in with my character actually present, it stopped saying "cant update JP" or whatever and started saying "cant update NA/EU" instead, I've moved from "Phoenix EU" to "Kujata JP" somehow. Everyone is Japanese and my connection is terrible, reading into things it looks like world swapping is a paid service that wont be around until september.... whut?!
