1017 and 5006 without showing any characters?

When I try to log in the game client, after I press Start, one of the following happens:

• I get a 1017 without being brought to the character select screen and am brought back to the title screen
• I get an error 5006 and the client crashes
• I am brought to the character select screen, which does not display any characters or servers, and eventually gives me one of the above errors
• I sit on the title screen and get an error 2002 "the lobby server encountered an error" or some such and the client crashes

What the heck is going on? I'm trying to play at extreme off-peak hours here. How is this happening?

Edit: oh, and now the start button is grayed out, so I can't even attempt to log in. Excellent.

This problem has been happening all day. After the issues many have experienced during the week it is not really a surprise to see that there are major issues logging in during the first Saturday of the game. I have been issues connecting, then being disconnected all day. I suppose take comfort in the fact that you are definitely not the only one experiencing this issue.

What's extreme off peak to you might not be somewhere else.

Currently it is 1 AM on the west coast of NA, 4 AM on the east coast, and 9 am in western europe. That's hardly peak. It is in fact, for the NA/EU servers, the time of day in which there is the lightest client load.

Oh, I know the issues that have been happening all day. None of the issues I posted about were happening earlier.

I am on the English servers, on the Legacy. So I know that's not the issue for me.

Thats unfortunate...I got this game 2 days ago and was able to play and create a character without any problems. You can create characters atm since they're servers open. So try to log in and enjoy

Thanks, now I just have to be able to get logged in... :-/
I am a legacy player, and was kind of hoping that the Legacy server that my character is on, would have room for me to log in, but alas I have not had the luck.

Ya, still happening, kind of a bummer.
But at least you have played, I can't get into my server, and can't create a character on any other server, so since release, I have not played once.

Most likely it's because your on a JP server like me and they are overloading the servers to the max so much that it wont even update your character list before it says "We on light now, you American/EU prayers need to go to sreep!" basically.
