Please give "bonus" to people who actually log off.

I think the current server situation is going to encourage everyone to never log off and keep their PC running, and that could only make this matter worse.

Log off currently doesn't have anything to out weight "stay afk" so I think that instead of putting an afk limit in the future which might make people find another new trick to overcome it and stay online. I don't think it is good solution. It could make thing become annoying when people need some 30 min break too.

I think the better solution would be "give special bonus" when people log off. One of the thing they could done is the "rest bonus", don't make it apply as long as they are in the camp. It should only apply during the time they actually log off. and the bonus exp should be more, so that people would take the benefit instead of AFK online.

If people are encourage to log off whenever they finish playing, congression will not be issue.

An EXP boost won't matter to anyone already at 50 in their desired classes unless you are also asking for a boost in things like item and gil gain.

An AFK kick wouldn't help anyways.
I could easily tie a rubber band round my PS3 controllers analogue stick and let my character run in circles in an inn room while I gather the rested bonus.

Same on PC, I could use a controller to do this also.

There deffo needs to be some better benefits to logging off.

While I don't agree with your suggestion OP I do agree there needs to be a reason for people to log off or a way to get these afk's off. Right now I am debating whether or not to log out before I head to bed for the night so I don't have to sit and spam enter game for 30+ minutes tomorrow.

It would, if movement wouldn't be a trigger and action is required.
They need to improve server not give rewards for logging of that is silly....

Random thoughts on how to spread congestion

    1. Rested Log out XP would be ok for everyone if they end up with some sort of merit/legacy/paragon level thing on top of your base level.

    2. When logged out of the world, allow access to AH's across all worlds. Similar to D3 where you actually leave the world to access the AH or dreaded RMAH.

    3. Tetra Master. Each win provides bonus to ingame like improved rested XP for a day. Encourage going back and forth between main game and side game.

    4. Let us provide instructions to Retainers which they can undertake while we are logged out. Such as Crafting. It would all be NQ and only a certain amount though for balance? This should level Retainers (in Version 1 they were all stuck at level 1) and unlock bonuses per level gain. As a comparison you can queue 5 "retainers" in SWTOR with several hours of "crafting" or "gathering" each, and that didn't completely destroy SWTOR's economy.

    5. I'm surprised they didn't think to allow access to a PvP world or arena server so you can freely hop between game world and pvp. To at least give each character 2 servers to interchangeably jump to. Afterall, original 14 was supposed to be accessed from 11's moghouse so they obviously had something working in the past!

Except if they're smart about it, that won't work. I know in WoW that even if you're set up to run in circle or w/e you choose, the game will still flag you as afk and eventually push you offline from having no new input. Holding down the same key for 30 minutes is the same as touching nothing at all.

That said, please stop making bullshit excuses like this, as if it would make an afk timer fail. We won't have armies of hundreds of thousands of people rubberbanding their controllers to stay online if they add this. @#$%ing naysayers, stop being bad.

Despite popular belief, the vast majority of an MMO playerbase is more casual oriented, and don't magically fly to lvl cap in a day or two. Most will take significantly longer, and a bonus to rested exp while offline would be a step in the right direction, and one that many people would benefit from. This especially includes the people that can't even get online because of people afking overnight and such.

You guys do realize that the server problem is supposed to be dealt with this coming week? It is not like this is going to go on for the entirety of the game

The bonus is your PC won't completely shit itself from being on 24/7 just so people can get a video game fix.

    Seems like a good trade.

Maybe if you bought your PC from walmart or something, sure. Aside from the occasional restart here and there for various things, my PC has been on for the better part of a year. So has my wifes, and neither PC is of exceptional quality. Maybe you just need to take better care of your equipment if it "completely shits itself" from being left on?
