    Battle Effects: Lets not point the bad. What do you think that do NOT need changes?

    Everyone is complaining and bashing the new battle effects resize and stuff. But what actually need to be remade? Please don't post if you going to say something like "everything is bad" or if you didn't actually saw the several tiers of that skill enough times to comment it. When commenting a certain skill let's assume you're talking about all tiers as a whole. If you want to talk about a single tier, be specific about it! ^^

    The good: I don't think these need any kind of changes actually.

    Marauder:
    - Skull Sunder
    - Brutal Swing
    - Iron Tempest
    - Defender
    - Bloodbath

    Archer:
    - Quick Nock
    - Barrage
    - Wide Volley
    - Foeseeker
    - Arrow Helix

    Gladiator:
    - Luminous Spire
    - Rampart

    Pugilist:
    - Concussive Blow
    - Aura Sphere
    - Simian Trash

    Sentinel:

    Lancer:
    - Moonrise
    - Keen Flurry

    Conjurer:
    - Shock Spikes
    - Cure

    Thaumaturge:
    - Sacrifice
    - Punishing Barbs
    - Blood Rite

    The moderate: The ones i think that could have a better animation at higher tiers, not only making them bigger.

    Marauder:
    - Brandish

    Archer:
    - Puncture

    Gladiator:
    - Red Lotus

    Pugilist:
    - Seismic Shock

    Lancer:
    - Skewer

    Sentinel:

    Conjurer:
    - Fire
    - Thunder
    - Water
    - Aero
    - Blizzard
    - Stone
    - Protect
    - Shell
    - Stoneskin
    - Radiance

    Thaumaturge:
    - Banish
    - Scourge
    - Damnation

    The bad: These battle effects doesn't fit the description or are no good at all.

    Marauder:
    - Disorient (this doesn't fit the description. It should be something like hitting the floor with the weapon to throw dirt at enemy)

    Archer:

    Gladiator:
    - Phalanx (barely noticeable animation)

    Pugilist:

    Lancer:

    Sentinel:

    Conjurer:
    - Flare (poor animation. Not even close of an "ancient" spell)
    - Flood (poor animation. Not even close of an "ancient" spell)
    - Quake (poor animation. Not even close of an "ancient" spell)
    - Tornado (poor animation. Not even close of an "ancient" spell)
    - Freeze (poor animation. Not even close of an "ancient" spell)
    - Burst (poor animation. Not even close of an "ancient" spell)
    - Raise (where's the animation?)

    Thaumaturge:
    - Shadowsear (Purple scourge? It should have some ancient looking too!)
    - Resurrect (where's the animation?)

    Feel free to post your list with what you think about the battle effects!

    Lancer: Chaos Trust. Described as "Sixfold attack", but the animation only shows one hit. Not acceptable.

    I know for Gladiator I LOVE luminous spire... but most of the other gladiator ones are the same little animation... I don't mind if they are better or worse, i just want more variety, I want some to just be different than other

    If you switch skills with other jobs like intended, you would have more variety. There are only a handfull of skills that people switch in and out (Ferocity, Raging Strike, Hawks Eye, ect BUFFS). Put Brutal Swing on your Lancer or Gladiator, and they do a completely different animation and it looks pretty cool. Or use Skewer on Gladiator or Marauder, and they poke the mob. People just don't experiment as much with other skills.

    Don't get me wrong though, all the same class skills need to be changed or edited to look more worthwhile than 'OH YES I got Phalanx II... >.> never mind, it looks the same as Phalanx I'

    There's only 2 problems with that.

    1. TP moves from other classes aren't as beneficial.

    2. When I'm ranking on my LNC, I don't want to feel like I'm playing my MRD.

    Realize you aren't the only one playing. It's not that your playing marauder, but your using other abilities to make your own class.
    People don't get the concept that there are others playing this game, and if they want to make their LNC blunt oriented, by all means let them.

    I get that... But thats like owning a restaurant and having every menu item look and taste exactly the same but they all go by different names
    And when someone says "Hey, all these are the same dish with different names"
    You reply "Well if you want something that tastes different, there is another restaurant down the street"

    I just think the animations and the FX could be more exaggerated and more varied...

    But to the point of the OP... Luminous Spire, Simian Thrash and quite a few others are really really cool

    I very much hope they don't do away with being able to mix and match jobs skills for a custom class. That being said here are my favorite skills from other jobs I use for my PUG setup at 42:

    1) protect, shell, shock spikes: Must haves for all the jobs really.
    2) Sacrifice II and cure: I use cure as a back-up in case I can't afford the 92 health cost for SacII
    3) Absorb Def, Absorb Evasion: These hit about 1/2 the time which means if I miss with one I can ussually follow it up with a successful hit with the second. Even as PUG they cast relativily fast and hitting harder or more often with any job is fantastic.
    4) Fient (from Lancer): This skill is a PUG's dream, and if you aren't using it, you really should be. Fient allows you to score an undodgable hit for 500 tp, but only after following an attack you missed. The best part for PUG with this is that, while using flurry or pummel, even if you only miss 1 of the three attacks that launch, you can still use fient for the miss. Cooldown is like 8 or 10 seconds, so it allows me to fient all the time.
    5) Invigorate (also Lancer skill): Even with reduced effects, after using this, 3-4 pummel attacks puts me at 3000 tp in a snap. Helps when you want to launch quick, full power, victimize.

    I haven't even touched Glad, Archer, or Marauder yet, since I am waiting to level those with friends that aren't on yet. Can't wait to dip into those for skills. I love getting a new skill in ANY job as it makes me feel like all my jobs just got another option in how I set them up.


    I can't wait for them to create other jobs with new skills. Blue Mage was my fav job from FFXI and I totally intend to try to create a Blue Mage set up using all the other various job skills once I start using Gladiator. I hated trying new things in Xi because most parties wouldn't allow anything but the cookie-cutter norm jobs when leveling (Blu/Drk is the business), so XIV gives me an awsome opportunity to solo how I like with little cost to xp gain and without worrying about how it effects others.

    I hope there are plenty of you out there that will share the same spirit when it comes to messing with jobs, and I can't wait to see what tohers come up with.

    Honestly, I am fine with the effects, most of the time I don't pay attention to them. What needs tweaks is the animations themselves, I'm tired of each skill looking like all the others. And yeah, I guess I can understand how effects are important and would need to be tweaked before animation, but I seriously would be fine waiting for both to be released at the same time.

    I was just saying, that's what the original idea was for the game but people didn't follow through with that
