This thread is so stupid lol
I guarantee half of you don't pay for music, don't pay to see films, avoid tax's, steal from work, torrent software, download your porn for free.
All hypocrites lol. Cheating life there, and that is illegal by law. Not some virtual service.
RMT and Botting are 2 separate things btw. stop mixing them up. One is just doing something for you, the other is selling intellectual products you don't have the rights to.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of you stand outside your neighbours house and protest that he hasn't cut his lawn and its just not right to not cut the lawn! So you have to stick your nose in!
No matter what you're doing in this game botting will affect you one way or another. Whether it's claiming your mobs, buying up your mats, selling the stuff they make way cheaper than you, collapsing your quarries. selling ridiculously cheap materials (which everyone seems to love, but in reality it hurts those who really do that to make a virtual living on this game)...etc. Nobody is paying for this game now, save with their time, but when we do start paying for it I'd like to not pay for this disservice. It's 'nice' how these botters do not have the same restrictions as the rest of the players that choose not to follow their path of the artificial. They are not limited by time.
And for the record I don't do any of those things you mentioned. I purchase CDs and I even make sure to return pens to work. -. -
100% agree with you Kimiko. So suddenly because we do one thing which technically breaks the law, it's ok to just do anything which does? I guess I'll go stab some people on the street, I mean I accidentally bought a pirated DVD on Ebay once, ohmygod nothing matters any more! D: But seriously, yes it's mildly hypocritical but so what? At the end of the day I'd rather be mildly hypocritical than not give a fudge about anyone or anything. I want to enjoy the game, botters decrease my enjoyment, I want rid of them, simpleSo you entire argument hinges that we all break the law and effectively take things irl without earning it? Sorry, but you don't know if that is true or not. And to flag that up as some way of saying it is ok to cheat is completely out of context with what this thread is saying.
1) there are obvious bots
2) they ruin in game echonomy
3) IF SE are doing anything about this, what is it?
4) how can we spot them?
By what you're saying, you think that because you assume we are breaking the law irl, it is perfectly fine to break the rules in-game. What was the old saying, "two wrongs dont make a right".
It is silly to even suggest that bots do not effect the game, they do. And it's even sillier to grasp at straw like justification as to why they are ok here.

soooo.....where is Viion now to comment? Or was the simple truth in SE rules enuff to silence...? Point being Botting has to end also possibal RMTs. Think this game is free , RMTs are filling there resources now. The more we show the more we report the faster we can hult there activities. Witch in the long run is better for all of us who play them game
Pretty naive to assume you can get rid of botting. You won't. Besides I have a feeling when they start charging the rules will be enforced much more actively. Either way bots are a way of life in MMO's, you won't be able to stamp it out entirely, ever.
So we should just sit back and take it? That sounds like a fun game. - . -
Ive played probably every MMO on the market. FF11 had the strictest rules against bots, even establishing the STF to combat them. Bots are still everywhere. And of course we have FF14 with most of their core game mechanics designed around combating them to the detriment of the game. You can only do so much before the actual enjoyment of the game is affected for real players.
Don't sit and take it, but don't expect this magical solution to completely eradicate them. It's just not going to happen. Report them as you see them and be done with it. It's the best you can do.
I don't think anyone's assuming we can get rid of ALL the bots.
But even getting rid of some makes a teeny difference and is better than just bending over.
They could have gotten rid of that bot by simply looking at it. That's a suspension, and a notification to the dev team that players have discovered distance hacks already.
And what was the response? No action.
Well true, to elimate every single bot is near impossible.
Failing that, why not every single person report every (suspected) bot they see? we know what to look for, we can pass that info on. My point is, if SE see that the players consider this a strong issue, they will see more reason to act strongly against it.
So, why not report the next (suspected) bot you see in-game? (btw, that question is for everyone lol)
