I have to agree, yes botting is bad, I dont like it, it promotes currency farmers "makes their jobs easier", but in aion I saw innocent people get banned because they got accused of being a bot just because someone got a group of friends to get them banned..... I got accused of being a bot because I would be out in the abyss for hours killing the same mobs over and over again for AP and doing the repeats like a machine... dont mind the grinding... but yeah got accused of botting because of it... banning botters might cause more harm to innocent players more than you think it might.

taking too agressive a stance and banning on suspicion causes alot of issues too
wow does that, if you have alot of gold on your account, you get an auto ban every time they go through the ranks clearing suspected rmt, and are pretty much denied at least a week of gameplay til you call them to get it reactivated for douchbaggery on their part banning you
i knew someone who had 6 characters with max gold cuz all he did was farm 24/7 when not raiding and he got hit by this every time, he was in no way rmt, but they didnt care

all you have to do is give a /tell in auto transluate to someone who you think is a bot. And if there is no responce its most likely because no one is home . /tell or /s to someone who is grinding alot thay will awnser you because thay have ben out there all day with only the LS to talk to so any passer by is somewhat comfort lol. Im not saying just go Mass ban people. Just the ones you can without a shadow of a doubt know there botting. A bot wont respond to a /s or a /t its not in the program(s).

The only thing wrong with this thinking is that some people are not paying attention to the chat while crafting. I have dual monitors so while I press the A button, I surf the web. The only time I look at my screen is when I reload. Someone I know recently was accussed of botting. They were watching a movie and crafting. I think the /tell /say method of determining if someone is a bot may not be the best choice. Although you know, I absolutely agree bots/rmt's should be taken out of the game swiftly.

one thing to remember and ive pointed this out in other forums

if a gm contacts you, not paying attetnion to your moniter is a good way to get banned as they will just assume you are a bot if you cant respond to them

they dont care what you are doing on the side, all they care about is that you didnt respond to them, which is why "i wasnt paying attention to my chat" is the most retarded excuse there is

There are other threads on this issue. Some promoting movie sites that you can download movies to watch while crafting. The boring, repetitivenes in crafting is a big cause. I don't know why you think it's retarded and frankly the word retarded is insulting to me. I'm not completely clueless as to what is going on in chat but the screen scrolls up quickly while crafting and it's easy to miss ls talk. They would have to ban many crafters if there was a rule against watching tv or surfing the web while one crafts. As far as I know there is no such rule. If you can please show me a rule where this is the case I'd appreciate the info.

there is no rule against it

BUT, if you are suspected of botting and a GM contacts you, and you are "too busy watching a movie" to respond while crafting, you have pretty much just sealed your fate, THAT is what I am getting at

you can not use "i was too busy watching a movie" as an excuse when a GM bans you for not responding to them while you are doing something suspicious that may be botting

Has this happened personally to you or are you a GM? If there is no rule that your eyes have to be glued to the screen every single moment I would protest this.

it doesnt have to happen to know that it WILL happen

if im a GM, and i see you crafting nonstop, several reports have come to me saying you may be a bot

    i send you a message...no response(you are sitll crafting)
    i send you anaother...no response

if you are crafting, you ARE at the computer right? if you ARE at the computer, you should be able to respond to me
if you arent, you are botting, and you are therefor getting banned

if you are in another window, i DONT CARE that you are, i dont care that you are watching a movie, the fact that you CAN NOT respond to me yet are still crafting, is a surefire sign that you probably are a bot, since after all....if your not there to respond...you arent there

    and thats the point

as a side note, i watch movies ALL THE DAMN TIME while crafting, and i still have time to respond to people in game, its not that hard to do. and its even easier to moniter tells since they dont come as often and are colored differently

now granted, banning someone that isnt boting while watching a movie is a wrongful ban, but at the same time, it is their fault for not responding if thats the cause of it

The person behind the computer chose to ignore a tell and therefore can suffer the consequences of it if it comes down to that. If you look like a bot, act like a bot, dont respond like a bot, you probly are a bot, they arent gonna spend hours trying to get you to respond, they wiull maybe give you 1-2 tries if that, and if you dont respond, yet are still actively crafting, you are pretty much guarenteed to get hit.
