Though this may be true to some degree, these examples do not deal with SE or the game, so they are not viable examples to support your argument. Not to mention the idea of "cheating" in terms of one aspect permits the "cheating" in another is a poor excuse. There's also no need for name calling. In the end, players can continue to justify the use of third-party tools or what have you, but they'll find that they will be wasting their time in regards to the STF.

Weather you skip earning £5 to see a movie or level to 50, its all skipping shit.
Skip 6 months of working so you can get that legitimate photoshop software, or download it for free in an hr or so, aka (on a smaller scale) work months to get 50 or have a bot do it day/night and have it in a few days.

Yes its "cheating" in game, but irl you're cheating the system put in place to try prevent you from ripping movies or cracking software. But cheating can just also be defined as "To yourself"

You cant ever say you didnt go through your cheatbook as a kid to get godmode and unlimited cash on your fave game. This type of cheating is just ruining the experience for oneself, and why would you care about other peoples experience?

Bots will get banned eventually, but not until SE has made money because like said before, SE is a business at the end of the day, its all about profit, and they probably know how big the bot % is. So you just have to live with it for now until they start affecting you, then SE will ban. Get on with the game and stop being so jealous/upset by something that doesn't affect your gameplay.

You're the best argument for jettisoning botter-sympathizers we have. The sheer cluelessness is enough to annoy the hell out of anyone with half a year's experience with MMOs. If I were a dev and read how truly impossible it is for you to comprehend how a bot farming shards is different from a player farming shards in terms of how it affects everyone, I'd double my efforts to protect you from yourself because you clearly can't do it yourself.

People who don't understand what botters do to them have never played a game that was successful with botters in it. Anything you used to farm and make money off of before is now cheapened because there's botters claiming it before it pops and making sure they are the only ones getting the drop. Its okay now for shards, because everyone needs them and they're cheap, but it won't be okay for sort of good items or crafting materials which are not unique/untradeable, and they will flood the market with them. If they ever have a way to efficiently take gil out of this game (besides crafting lol), gil sellers would be a serious problem, you'd be hearing shouts for the sites, in XI they would /t you, of course they added an option to block spam like this, but its all very annoying before the option comes in. RMT/Botters do have the potential to ruin game economies harder than the stupid AH/MW argument.

So you entire argument hinges that we all break the law and effectively take things irl without earning it? Sorry, but you don't know if that is true or not. And to flag that up as some way of saying it is ok to cheat is completely out of context with what this thread is saying.

By what you're saying, you think that because you assume we are breaking the law irl, it is perfectly fine to break the rules in-game. What was the old saying, "two wrongs dont make a right".
