Of course the new game smell is wearing off.

FFXIV is an MMORPG that is (other than the server issues) aggressively competent, and that's the best that can be said about it. It doesn't really do anything new, doesn't innovate in the slightest, and it is derivative and generic to the point of obsessiveness. That doesn't mean it's bad - it's actually very well done, for what it is. But it does mean that once people get done being all ZOMG NEW MMO IT'S FINAL FANTASY GONNA NAME MYSELF xCLOUDx STRYFE they realize pretty quickly that this is the same game they've been playing for a decade now with a new coat of paint to doll it up.

You don't have to do anything new. You only have to do it better. Copying is not a problem as long as it's better than the old one. It's a competation, they all do the same thing. Like a 100m sprint, you can't call the next guy cheating because he's doing the same thing as you.

The largest customer group is from gonna be from WoW. And the only thing that's gonna get their attention after levelling up is raid difficulty. Make raids that make heroic WoW look like kindergarten and people will all come here. Guild Wars 2 was an excellent experience levelling up, but that's it. Defiance was......

God I wished Borderlands 2 was an MMO, too bad it's not. The expansion raid bosses at UVHM level 60 is challenging enough and punishing for every mistake you make.

Button spam: I think Wii is the only thing you can play. All regular consoles and pc games require pressing of buttons.

Spam quests: Single player games are the only games you can play. You repeat the same maps in FPS games, fight the same enemies in fighting games, same sports in sports games, same 5-7 buttons in every music game. Following this theory, MMOs are better than all above as there are multiple monster spawn positions (ahahahahah) so you don't stay on the same spot everytime, that's already in an advantage compared to other genres.

Summoner: No you can't summon a Bahamut at level 1. Unless you use a mod/cheat.

In conclusion, you should buy a Wii and play a single player adventure game with a cheat. That's will solve all your problems and you will be happy.

MMOs in general are giant button spam games. I mean seriously, holding that against a game in this genre is like saying an FPS game sucks because there's too much pointing and shooting.

OP, I hope you do realize that these forums are no indication of the games success. The vast majority of people who play the game don't even visit the forums let alone start threads. Those who usually linger on the forums are people who aren't happy with the game. Or else, they'd be playing it like everyone else.

The op has a point or two anyway , the itemization is just horrible , every item has the same stat from lvl 1 to 50 , just little higher as you go up in level , there's no diversification , no free of choise , your next drop will have +1 on your main stat ... that's kinda bland , and has been pointed out since early beta , and in a pve focused game , itemization need to be more then this simple . Even to 50++ contento i find it interesting some bosses have cool and entertaining mechanics , but you're just get that new item whit that +1 .

Could you imagine how terribly laggy the game would be if every summoner had a huge ifrit, titan, or garuda out floating around with them at just about all times, especially during FATES? It's bad enough that pets load up before the mobs do, it would be 10x worse if all the pets were big avatars like in FFXI.
