There are only 2 MMORPG Final Fantasy games in the series the Mithra/Miquo'te is a fan based FF race in relation to the FF-MMO titles.
People played FFXI in 2002 and the game still exists today and many still play it, FFXI as a single title has gone on for 11years.

If you think 11+ years in the Final Fantasy MMO world doesn't make it a Final Fantasy icon then I'm sorry but your wrong.
The cat race in the MMO world of Final Fantasy will most likely stay in the series further down the road, if they ever decide to make a 3rd MMO.
Because the fact is, it has accumulated a fan base just like other Final Fantasy races.

FFXI was such a popular game in Japan that it even had an appearance in an anime and the race's got featured in it. Anime -> Welcome to the NHK - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVUmQ3xiJJE

In the MMO FF world the cat race is supposed to be an appealing race and the female Miquo'te in 1.0 was alot more beautiful and I respect the art work of the original.

The Mithra in FFXI was not shaped like a cat but it did look a lot more like a cat in its facile features, although its body remained humanlike.

My character in FFXI was a hume male named Vandark, I played on and off for 10 years, but on FFXIV I played as both a male Human named Van Dark and my Miquo'te.
As I played FF14 in 1.0 I ended up playing on my own quite alot because many friends left the game.
I ended up choosing my Miquo'te as my main for FF14 because I really liked there appearance, and I am a fan of the Mithra from FFXI, I thought they looked cool too but they did not compare to the awesome 1.0 Miquo'te.

When I first saw the Miquo’te race in 1.0 I was amazed, they looked so incredible. The theme and art was brilliant. This Human shaped cat girl appearance is why I chose the race back then, they had such nice looking body shapes in 1.0.

The 1.0 F-Miquo'te to me is what Tifa is to FF7, what Riku is to FF10 and what Vira is to FF12.
It's lame that just because the game got remade we have lost F-Miquo'te's awesomeness, thats incredibly sucky but it's ok I'm going to go play GTA-V for now.

Yea I'm takeing a break and not just because of the F-Miquo'te there is a billion reasons why, this was just something small that I had a problem with but if they won't even fix something small then oh well, later all.

Happy adventuring, I envy the majority who did not play 1.0->1.23 I think I would have preferred not knowing how much better alot of the stuff really was back then.

You forget that at that time there was a camp who complained about female Miqo'te because of the fact that they look like human-shaped catgirls and wished they were more cat-like. I wasn't one of them, but I remember rolling my eyes whenever they made their presence known.

While I sympathize with this thread, I also feel the modeling team looks at this and collectively shudders at the idea of having to re-weight, resize, re-animate and re-do physics for every piece of leg gear and a lot of torso gear currently in the game only because some people want miqo'te butts to be bigger.

It's a worthy cause (channeling Sir Mi-a-lot and everything), but it is also very intensive. That and I earlier mentioned issues low-poly models have with physics in that part of the body.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

In the word of Mr. Spock: "This is... illogical."

If the bust slider is any indication, you wouldn't need to redo anything, because the game already compensates for it.

All the bust slider shows is that the game engine is capable of expanding the mesh while adjusting the texture in a way it doesn't look stretched from outright resizing. Basically what Lowtech became famous for within the same model and through an in-game slider instead of applying a separate mesh.

Increasing butt size means that physics applied to skirts, loose straps and flaps would have to be recalculated (assuming XIV's game engine is anything like 3-D max or having something as primitive as MMD's bullet point engine), and depending on size would probably need more polygons to not look blocky when animated. You could make a case for skirt rigging already being questionable (Vanya sort of shows this), and adding a more notable round object in there would clip if you only increased butt size and adjusted nothing else. It's never a matter of just expanding the mesh and making the associated objects bigger; there's a little more involved (again, based on my experience as I don't know the intricacies of FFXIV's engine).
