Losing Chat and all other text

I have a very strange issue that just started today. I was playing for a while in Western Thanalan when I got a graphics glitch. There were lines all along the screen, random models were turning yellow, etc. Reloading the game fixed that, but now I have another issue.

My chat box, as well as all other text (even quest text), disappears from my screen at times. It seems to only happen when there are other character models in my screen view (even NPCs).



Edit: Turns out to have something to do with character/NPC names. I turned them all off and it fixed the issue. Not exactly a great way to play the game, but hopefully it'll work until a patch comes through.
