don't name appear when you target them, asking because ffxi was like that. And My post is constructive notmeant to be negative. If this was a really importent need, why do you choose NOW to say something. Or better yet, name a game with so much UI customization w/o the use of addons? Also for the record. Newbies sometimes will try to type a /commend and do the wrong one. and get confused as to what happen. Happen al ot when I first started. Plus think about it, if this was a good idea, wouldn't ALL games be set up like that? Do you understand why there are limits?
everything adds up and takes up hd space. And stop saying my ADD is hi-def your really starting to get rude with that. Its really not easy to deal with. Its also something that isn't easy getting meds for since most ADD meds are basicaly speed. The testing to see if a person has ADD is pretty exsessive. Least mine was. But anyway. You the one being negative here not me. I don't care either way if its not going to be an issue with hdd space.

And Also i know there are seperate teams for UI and content. But... gotta understand again anything added to the game, makes the game bigger. The larger the game more space is taken. With all these options Id be surpised if by the time the game is out for the ps3 if anyone is going to have the HDD room, even if they clear everything from it.
Which is my concern not being negative.
I'm sure with the clutter of all the mob names and party member names around you, one more blemish isn't going to hurt you. The other guy has a point, they open up a feedback forum here and everyone wants their ideal game all of a sudden. If you want the perfect game catered to you specifically I suggest getting into game design - I did at one point in my life and it was a lot of fun.
The ps3 is of no concern atm (I'm eagerly awaiting the release but it's the truth), and ps3's not only have ALOT more storage than ps2/11 had but access to more advance compression methods lol They know what to do, just look at the insane amount of content they keep adding to 11's and it STILL fits on the measly hdd. So no it's not a concern it's just more negativity esp with the ps3 release far away. A simple UI change like that takes almost no time to code and doesn't take away from other dev time as has been posted by the devs themselves and yoshida from previous UI changes right here on these forums!!! A UI change even uncompressed btw would take mere kb's of data not MB's or GB's.And Also i know there are seperate teams for UI and content. There's nothing confusing or bad about adding customization for the people who want or NEED it. As been's stated already turning all names off affects GAMEPLAY that you don't really have the option to turn it off due to things like claims and party! Good news though is Yoshida recognizes the need to toggle and customize esp after the huge response to the agro icons when released so just give them time, hopefully they'll add it^^
This would be cool
gifthorse's suggestion is as valid as anyone else's suggestion here. If Square wants players like gifthorse to be more content with XIV this thread is a start. Square will ultimately lump this idea into a pile of others and try to figure out the root of the problem. The more problems the more likely it is to find the root.
In WoW, yea I'm *that* guy, they have a great variety of nameplate customization. You can toggle the visibility of guild names, your own name, all other's players name (excluding your own), NPC names, pet names, and special event titles. I may have missed some but that was plenty. Options are a good thing.
You may recall that all I was asking for was ability to turn off some icons and some names. It's not like that puts a burden on space. They aren't adding anything to the game, merely taking some stuff away. And Also i know there are seperate teams for UI and content.
