    The more things I can do in the interface with "/" commands, the better. They're fantastic ways to customize the look and feel of the game with fairly minimal effort on the dev-team's part (relative to some of the more large-scale changes that the team is working on and will continue to work on throughout the life of the game, anyway). That and they're damn efficient ways to access various menus if you know what you're doing with them (esp since we aren't allowed full key mapping).

    / take up data for those who don;t know. even auto translate took up data. the more you add the more data is added. Even SE had to limit the auto translate because of data limitations. Plus too many / command though useles, will be too much to remember or recorded. Do you want to be the person who has to type down EVERY / command just because you guys want to toggle EVERYTHING. sorry but there needs to be a line drawn some place. Not even ffxi had this much complaining about the LS icons or large names. Its a video game for crying out loud.

    You complain about not being able to turn just your own name off. but then you complain about not being able to see everyones names when you have /names off... what?

    And you wonder why people mock you, Kitkun. The amount of coding needed to toggle the hideous abberations that are our own names and linkshell icons is perhaps so small that the amount of data needed to store it is negligible.

    I could ask you the same thing. Let me spell this out for you.
    • I don't want to look at my own name because it clutters my screen and I know who I am
    • I don't want my screen cluttered by unnecessary information
    • I deem player's first names necessary information so I would like them displayed
    • At present, I cannot display other people's names without displaying all the rest of the crap such as my own name and every hideous linkshell icon at the same time
    • I would like such things to be on a toggle for the above reasons

    there was a nice quality about XI's circular linkshell.. a simple, shaded colour, it wasnt offending to the eyes when presented on a mass scale..

    what we have at the moment is horrible.

    I think its just another thing the original team didnt fully conisder.

    Currently we have less than what SE hoped for as a player-base. And even now I find the screen clustered with pointless random patterns and shapes that are meant to distinguish between "player groups".

    Infact they don't.

    I dread to think of what the current ls icon "sea" would look like with the player-base that SE is meant to be aiming for.

    My suggestion.. give us back the circle ls's from XI.. again, it is one of those simple things that just 'worked' :/

    A server eventually gets to know itself, who's who does not need noting by the random twirley pattern above your head
