I agree with this when i was actually able to log on i noticed two things in towns and in fields

1> hundreds of afk players in towns and outposts

2> I'm glad to know I can't or thousands of others cant log on but sure as hell the gold sellers and a ton of bots certainly can please for the love of god deal with these people

MTE. Honestly, I'm a little surprised SE has yet to do this, given the severity of the issues they've been dealing with. They're aware that they have a congestion issue, but instead of implementing some method for lightening server load, they restrict character creation. This is a new game and there are people wanting to create characters on servers of their choice, and that option's been taken away because of server congestion and other issues, when there're players clogging the worlds who don't even play but log in simply to go AFK for several hours.

I WAS ABOUT TO POST THIS SAME IDEA!!!!
I know World of Warcraft uses 15-20 minute idle timer which works great because if you are away from a game that long then why should you be able to stay in locking up the servers...this is complete bullshit that we have to wait until off hours and even then still have a queue to wait? You go in any major city or sanctuary you see roughly 10-55 players idle and have yet to move. This limits the potential of players like my boyfriend who is on the fence if he wants to pay the sub and honestly Square Enix he is very upset with the lack of being able to get on.

This should have been the #1 solution to server issues!!!! No idle timer indourses players not to log out and just stay logged in especially since you can collect rested experience logged in.

I definitely agree and I'm just surprised there wasn't some afk timer implemented from the very start. I think it's selfish for people to keep themselves logged in and afk just because they want to guarantee themselves a spot on their server. I'm sorry, but that is the main reason nobody can log on in the first place (besides the massive amount of people that SE did not expect to play). If you're not home or available to play the game, you should not be signed on it, it's unfair to those who wish to actually play and are available to do so during the day.

I completely support an afk logout timer. It seriously blows my mind that SE are this disconnected from reality. We all know it's possible since like well... every other MMO in existence does it, but basically rather than providing half-way decent customer service and taking 5 minutes to write some code SE are telling they're paying customers to "deal with it".

Tossing my 2 cents of support into this pool. AFK timer NEEDS to be implemented rather than punishing people who are actually playing the game, or trying to get in to play.

I am going to agree to this. The fact (it has been proven) people are staying logged in when they go to work, sleep or just decide to walk away for a few hours is unfair to the other people who enjoy the game, like myself. I do not enjoy spending ten minutes to three hours pressing the A button on my controller to attempt to get in, and as it stand right now why does it even matter if you stay logged in when your clearly unable to play i.e. going to work or bed or whatever. All your doing by being that person is being a total dick to everyone else who wants to play and enjoy the game. We all bought and paid for a game we cannot even play due to the lack of people logging out. We NEED that afk kick timer. Without that even upgrading the servers is pointless cause it is still going to happen. But if there is an overall reason to stay logged in other then not being able to log in due to not having that afk timer, let me know. I hope they decide to make it happen and soon.

Please do make an AFK timer. I know there are a ton of people just sitting on Behemoth doing NOTHING while the go to work or catch a nap or w/e. And meanwhile I haven't been able to get in ALL WEEK. Seriously. Played for a few hours on Sunday before getting disconnected and haven't been able to get back in. Frustration x1000.

SE should get ideas off star wars old republic server set up and idle characters like on servers have it listed from new being hardly anyone on low being some people medium more people high lot of people heavy being almost at limit to full not accepting anymore people and those have character on server should be able log in without load screen into boot to error. To the idle players in star wars old republic if your away it pop a message saying " you are now away from keyboard/controller and timer starts down if you haven't moved for an amount of time it disconnect you from server meaning you was afk to long of a time. If SE could do that to all servers there wouldnt be a mess and the game could start fixing other things and do small server down time each day for 30min to hour server reset like in dc online does each day. Please SE take my idea and make the game better not worser than it is now
