Seriously, the game has a queue.

So why is it that we get 1017, and bounced out to the title screen, rather than being entered in the queue? Isn't the entire point of queues, and the reason they've been a staple of software design for 30+ years, that they let you process things in order even though you can't process them all at once?

I understand the need to limit players who are actually in the world. That's why games have queues to begin with; not everyone can log in at once, so the people who can't log in yet wait in the queue. And yet, for FF14, unique among all the MMOs I have ever seen, the vast majority of login attempts that don't place you in the world immediately result in getting bounced out entirely. Why?

I recognize that you're working on it. I am pretty happy with the announced fixes and improvements. I just want to know why the queue can't be used for the one and only thing that queues exist to do. "You had one job, queue."
