    Are Fates Killing the Markets?

I am not sure if crafting is worthwhile. It seems that people are just farming fates for everything, gear, gil, exp and of course seals. I can't seem to sell much on the markets lately. Odd thing was there was more market activity earlier this week than there is now and personally I think it has a lot to do with the fate system.

Lately, all I see are people spamming LFG for fates. Heck even seen people hang out at popular sanctuaries hunting fates or waiting for them.

By simply examining people I can see their rank and for many they're up pretty high especially the level 40-50's. And if they don't have their AF gear they seem to have gear that's from the Grand Company seals. I guess I am just starting to get worried about the way crafting and the economy is going. It certainly doesn't seem as if the economy is player oriented like how it was in FFXI.

FATEs are in no way killing the economy. People farm FATEs because they are the fastest way to level and level 50's farm them for the scrolls/barding/off-set gear. I still sell gear from all levels because the dropped gear is better then the all-stat gear from your grand company.
You will be able to sell level 50 greens easily because they are much better than the grand company ones. I can definitely say Gil is not best earned through fates. Want to make Gil? Run to the first chest in Amdapor Keep for Demon Brick and sell it multiple times. Flip items on the AH. Sell crafting materials. Sell anything at this point. Its a seller's economy. Don't blame a game element that works flawlessly because you aren't creative and do not understand economy after years of MMO's being out in the world.

Sorry but I understand the economy. Sure mats sell, but I am not really speaking of mats I am speaking of products. People don't buy crafting products because they don't need too even if they are better than drops, quests and fates. Why? Because one you out level your gear quickly in this game, unlike in FFXI you can use a piece of gear for 10-20 levels or more. Plus the leveling rate in FFXI was a LOT SLOWER.

In this game a piece of gear lasts maybe 2-4 levels and that's speaking of the HQ as well (it could last you maybe longer, depending on your class and what you're doing). Plus leveling is so fast that the gear you acquire from fates, quests, or drops will do you just fine until end game. Honestly, if it's all in the end game where crafting matters than really it's pretty pointless because that means 90% of it is useless.

Seriously, there is no demand for pre-level 50 gear from crafting. Because why buy them when the gear from quests, fates, drops, and etc will be enough to hold you? Especially since most of the players literally just farm fates all day. Which basically fulfills just about everything needed in this game.

    Seriously it's basic logic.

well is saw this coming and it is nothing new, crafting in ffxiv isnt as it was in ffxi, its more like in wow, means quite useless and u dont need it at ll, thats the way the decided to take crafting, seems like a waste to me, i really like crafting in the game and i hope they will make some changes to the game so crafting becomes more usefull, at the moment, it seems ure better off saving ure gil for something else, not sure what tough but we're still at the beginning, so things will be added i guess

Agreed all crafting items should be buffed theres no point. For such a massive investment of time from players the items crafted should be the best and have unique recipes making the strongest items

Actually crafting is nice, but just not at lower levels.
End game crafting will be nice for a number of reasons, mostly materia attachments and potions from the alchemist.
I'm hoping that crafted gear will be great outside of raids, since many won't even touch raids and need other means of progressing.

You say crafting is nice but then the rest of your statement indicates why it's not so great. End game crafting? Why would anyone level up crafting just for end game purposes? Crafting should be useful at all levels not just the end and even then the only main purpose it would serve is what you said yourself, materia slotting and potions.

It is truly sad, because I actually like the crafting system, however, it's purpose is just a facade to make players feel as if it is needed or useful when the truth is it has no or very little relevance in this game.

All the gear in dungeons is > crafted gear. Crafted gear can be bought from NPC's are the related lvl camps anyways... It's ridiculous. Crafting is utterly useless when NPC's provide everything you make.

You have a system where DoH rely heavily on other DoH/DoL for mats to craft gear but DoW/DoM have 0 reliance on DoH/DoL classes in fact the game wouldn't change at all really if the entire crafting system didn't even exist, which is basically what every single MMO seems to miss, if DoW/DoM classes don't need crafters for gear then wtf is the point of crafting to begin with?
