This is such an informative thread. Kind of fun to read through. I hope the original post will get updated one day.
I love this stuff so every patch if someone else hasn't already done it I like to post my findings![]()
Sohm Al (Hard)
Final Fantasy XIII
The Ochu from Final Fantasy XIII was recycled and repurposed so it has a place in Eorzea, judging by its name it's still in the Ochu family despite its appearence from the Ochu's found in this this game.
Baelsars Wall
Final Fantasy VI
This whole dungeon is a giant love letter to fans of Final Fantasy VI here are some of the monsters that appeared in Final Fantasy VI
Sky Armor
Magitek Armor
Bogy(Has many names but it's based on this canine enemy variant)
Armored Weapon
*A lot of people confuse these enemies with the X-ATM092 boss from Final Fantasy VIII...but other than being mechanical spiders they're not really that alike.
Containment Bay Z1T9
Final Fantasy VI
Zurvan or Demon
Speaks for itself, part of the Warring Triad
I've not yet done Dun Scathe so hoping to see some interesting allusions there.
A little sad that I may have to wait til Stormblood for new allusions since there's this patch and part 2.

Found 2 other things
Dun Scaith
Final Fantasy VI
Deathgaze Hollow
Deathgaze is the first boss you fight in this 24 man raid you fight him on an airship like you do in Final Fantasy VI he retains the same moveset as his original counterpart too
General
Final Fantasy IX
The Gigi minion has an animation where it will adjust his hat much like Vivi who he's based on does constantly.
Didn't see it already posted in this thread or in the OP but I just discovered that this is a thing a game based on a secret mini game you can access in the first Final Fantasy game
and the NES/Famicom screen
The birds, the hill and the scenery all recreated...it's the little things.
Since nobody but me seem to have noticed and it makes me sad, not from FF, but, the 160 aren't the only gear from TO, the 250 crafted set is Barbas armor.

It gets bought up quite a bit elsewhere, especially when the new Palace of the dead floors came out but yeah not much said about TO here.
and regretably that game is still on my back log >< i'll get to it eventually.
I found what I am quite sure is another FFXIII reference in XIV. After you defeat the final boss in Xelphatol for Shadows of the First, the Warriors of Darkness tell you about how Light can be just as destructive as Shadow. When Alphinaud objects, he referencees "The Thirteenth World" which was covered by Darkness but then wiped totally clean, reduced to a blank emptiness, by Light. This is, in my opinion, a blatant reference of the encroachment of Chaos that lead to Bhunivelze ending the world and sending the souls somewhere else, leaving the original totally empty and devoid of anything resembling life.
Not really something in game but a good observation from a planning screenshot
Lulu is casting Firaga like she does in Final Fantasy X which was the second game in the series released in NA that adopted Japanese spell names
Aerith is casting Cure2, this is interesting because 2 isn't in numerals nor is it spaced like in the North American version of FFXIV, it's much closer to how it is in [NA] Final Fantasy VII where there was no spaces between the spell name and the number.
From the Benchmark Trailer
During the massive battle taking place a few new enemies appear from Final Fantasy VI
Magna Roader
Guardian (?)
Are the one's I have caught
During the swimming segment Ultros can be seen in the water.
NPC's in the water lay on their back the same way Tidus from from Final Fantasy X does.
The Samurai is riding the Syldra mount from Final Fantasy V
Last one I caught was Yojimbo and his dog Daigoro appear with Sussano-o possibly using the same models from Final Fantasy X since the designs are really similar but unlikely since Yojimbo or a ton of enemies in that game didn't have proper walking animations.
