MND also comes into play with Magic Def, so a Pug item with it isn't that strange. Most people 'should' have close to 40-60mnd anyways so they don't over burden there healers or die from AoE that shouldn't one shot due to insufficient magic def.I'm not sure if anyone's taken a close look at the bonuses given by some of the new NM drops but some of them seem a little strange.
Howling Talons
Pugilist required
+2 Dex
+1 Eva
+2 Mind (?)
It was my understanding that mind, int and piety had no effect on damage or accuracy. This leads me to believe either we have no idea what all the stats do or they're changing how stats affect our damage, accuracy, etc...

Its common for SE to do this. It also happens in existing gearz.

I'm of the opinion many others have stated in that these stats assist other skills. Not necessarily cross class either. Though it may just be in preparation for the new systems to come, I wonder if +MND has, or more likely will have, an effect on Second Wind, justifying its appearance on the Howling Talons.
Dear S-E,
Your s#!% has improved, but it's not quite there yet...you might want to see to that.
Thanks.
idk about anyone elese (didnt bother reading everyone elses posts)I'm not sure if anyone's taken a close look at the bonuses given by some of the new NM drops but some of them seem a little strange.
Let's take Bow of Owls for instance.
Archer required
+2 strength, nothing strange there
+2 piety, why is this here?
Frostbite
Gladiator required
+1 Vit
+1 Dex
+1 Piety (?)
Howling Talons
Pugilist required
+2 Dex
+1 Eva
+2 Mind (?)

But mnd for pug... is goooood. (Second Wind)
Piety for GLD i'd guess would be good to actually bosst the Accuracy of the "Magic" based weapons skills.
Im not sure about archer thou, i havent played it much but im sure it also have some kinda of Fire-based weaponskill.
(in wich Piety would be usefull i guess)
Just because the weaponskill lands & does damage dosent mean the added "Magic" effect will 100% land
too just cuz you have insane dex. (or well thats just my opinion)

I was always told MND didn't do anything for Second Wind. Mind effects healing spells, Second Wind is a skill and as such not affected. I mean I've got decent MND on my Pug and Second Wind is great but all my other stats are also up there.
Actually it doesn't happen on existing gear, which is why I found it strange. All previous weapons don't give these kinds of bonuses at all for whatever reason.
The reasoning as far as Mdef/Mres seems somewhat sound but you can get outright additions for that on all your gear. I guess a slight bit may help, possibly more so after the battle adjustments.
ummm arc..... wtf is you with your sigs picture... i nearly pulled a "anime side fall of shock: when i saw it XD
Anyway I still think its also due to cross class ability setting

How would you know? Aways have something to say and don't know crap except what u read
Anyways it's about time they started adding gear with stats like how they had in XI and like some have stated I believe this to be in preparation for new system where your stats might actually make a difference

"Mind (MND)
Reduces damage taken from magic attacks
Increases maximum MP
Piety (PIE)
Reduces chances of your magic attacks being resisted
Increases your chance of resisting magic attacks of others"

That should clear things up.
