When you create a video using third-party music, YouTube recognizes it, forces you to monetize your videos, and the proceeds then go to the rightsholders.

Also, the RIAA is an organization; not a regulation. You're thinking of the DMCA.

Pretty sure you guys all ready burned them bridges...

...When you told people who make their living off doing YouTube Reviews (of games) that they couldn't show any game content while reviewing.

I will never understand the incompetence of Marketing. "OMG! They are going to give us free advertisement; that normally would have cost us MILLIONS. QUICK! We better keep them from monetizing said review that'll generate them _maybe_ $300".

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.

I agree the policy is too restrictive. For many years there have been many great videos. Even Vanafest entries would fall foul of the current policy.

This revision is nice, but really restricts any freedom to make raid videos a bit more exciting.

Raid videos from all other games weren't just recorded footage with a fancy intro. They were pieces of entertainment, with music selected from the real world to reflect the person being filmed, their character, even the raid instance/boss.

It seems I won't be making any videos for my company as I planned then. It'll just be down to screenshots of things. I mean really Square, we KNOW it's your game. You don't need a trademark on every little thing in my opinion.

Not being able to put your music that "represents" your identity or the identity of your company really a deal breaker? It is just a game we are recording, I do editing for film for a living and I would never touch the original score for fear of hurting the integrity of the film. Now I do understand the difference in editing a film and recording a game video, and don't get me wrong I actually watch a lot of boss runs to help strategies, but does slapping a song on a video that 9/10 times only you like worth Making videos? I mean the fun is in the editing.

I've been playing on Balmung since 1.0 and since then I have gathered ideas and a huge storyline for a Machinima Series that was meant to go on and entertain people for quite a while. Now, due to the restrictions, I can't even start it off. You guys really need to change the restrictions because there's virtually no point in making any FF14 Videos if the person creating the Movie has Zero space for Creativity due to so many restrictions.

What's the problem with using 3rd party music if I actually get the permission to use it? I already have permission to a great deal of really good songs for the Series too. I've put quite some work into getting to use those songs.

Here's some advice SE: You want pretty much free marketing for your game? Then loosen those restrictions and instead put more effort into banning those Gilspammers. It's not the people that make awesome videos that'll destroy your game but those bots spamming the Shout/Yell Channel in every City each nano second.
