    Each game engine is different, so you cannot say what is easier to implement. Norm yes, easy - TBD.

    Free transfers have never been the norm. Only when fixing under populated servers. Not sure you're on this planet.

    Every current MMO has either free transfers (Rift) or cross-server partying (WoW, GW 2, TSW).
