lol hardcore.
lol hardcore.
Dance like you mean it !
Isn't this a very convenient attempt to change subject with the usual personal attack?
Sorry mate, but looks like I have to spell it to you again. Taking a single line completely out of context is a very, very weak forum trick. We were obviously talking about *tanking grind mobs*. Which is quite evidently easier in FFXI than in FFXIV, and is a very, very specific topic.
Misconstruing my opinion by extremising it because you can't counter it in it's original form doesn't constitute a valid argument. Quite the contrary.
LOL. I'm probably more of a "hardcore" (I prefer defining myself "core" as "hardcore" is a rather silly definition in itself) gamer than you. Differently from you, though, I'm able to understand the fact that I'm part of a small niche, and by tailoring the game over me and my niche, SE would not gain any kind of commercial success that's necessary for this game to survive.i think you purposely undermine any valid attempt at brining challenge to this game because your silver platter may be taken away from you.
I enjoy challenging content, but challenge is just that, a challege, and a challenge faced while actively having fun is much, much better than a waste of time to bring the *illusion* of a challenge.
Challenge = Challenge
Timesinks = Illusion of challenge for the ones that can't bear actually challenging content.
Challenge? What challenge exactly? Challenge is a matter of difficulty. Not of time. If you want a challenge, you make the encounter *harder to beat*, the consequences have nothing to do with that. Timesinks are simply a placebo for lack of *actual* challenge.you also constantly state on how xp loss death penalties and any other risk vs. reward systems are nothing but time sinks by deliberately stripping out the challenge portion and simply focusing on the time sink element. the avoiding death is the challenge in an xp loss time sink.
LOL. So you're advocating that standing in a chity shouting for a group and getting bored to death is *challenging* instead of spending the same time going into a dungeon and actually facing difficult content? Wow. Talk about lopsided.the LFG time sink's challenge is making an effor to gather friends or create a successful linkshell or finding someone that can contribute to the party.
Tell it to all the hundreds of thousands of people that want chocobos and airships. Again, the level of challenge in doing that is brain-dead minimal. You're walking around avoiding extremely predictable AI entities that follow predictable pathing. The time is much better spent (and enjoyable) actually facing challenging fights.the traveling time sink's challenge is reaching your destination while avoiding tough mobs along the way by planning routes and navigating the zones (certain mobs sense smell. others are blind. some sense ground movement, etc) due to xp loss for you or your traveling party.
And you can't discuss without personally attacking people that effectively counter your arguments. There's no challenge in wasting people's time. The challenge is into making them beat/outwit/outmanouver *hard* content, which can be solo OR group oriented (there's challenge even solo, as much as you don't seem to be able to admit it).you think you are clever by conveniently attack the naturally occuring time sinks of an mmo by striping them of their challenge aspects. your mentality is; why travel when you should teleport, why use tactics due to xp loss when you should zerg it all to death with impunity, why LFG when you should solo everything. you are a fraud.
You still didn't answer though, were you upset when they added search to the market wards (or the AH in Final Fantasy XI at that)? because you know, that's such a convenient and casual-friendly addition! It completely removes the CHALLENGE (lol) of looking for the items you need in every single bazaar.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hfYJsQAhl0 sums up how I fell about this idea
Just let them have this server.. as long as regular ones remain untouched by their silly complaints.. <.<
Oh and it's "kai-neh", not "kain".. and it is feminine.. u.u
By your logic I am so hardcore when I walked from Uldah to Camp Rivermeet in Coerthas. How challenging it was to tilt the analog stick. Because timesink is a challenge right?
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
They were not immune in XI when it first released. It was after the Japanese complained that because they had to pay to rent them, and because being attacked caused you to dismount you were basically stuck stranded in an area. Also the Chocobo Digging would get interrupted.
Most Americans never even got to experience it, but it was horrible.

I enjoy a challenge, I hope the patches add some interesting aspects to the game. But to your suggestions, i shall number like you have, but my response:
1) Tbhy, this isnt a bad idea. It was effective on FFXI. I personally see no issue with this. however, would be a bit harder to impliment with both physical level AND Rank.
2) ONLY if they bring out other forms of transportation. for now, i see no issue with Anima
3)how will this make the game harder? As a function yes, but as i pointed out, it does not make any changes to the difficulty of the game
4) If you removed Anima and Teleport, how would you be able to do this?
5) I see no issue with this. no point in being able to kill an NM every 10 mins
6) No, this will corrupt the economy. The game will not befifit from ppl only selling high end items (and nothing more) at the Gil cap. Also, starter items will be useless to sell anyway
7) Fair enough, I see your reasoning to this. However, why not an option to buff all members at once? (out of combat, AND with the correct MP costs)
8) How about not having caracter transfers at all? I have never seen any benifit from this.
On a final note. there should be no difference between servers. If such ideas are implimented, it should be ALL servers. Or none at all. Changing the game experience between servers adds nothing to the game, and only segrigates the player community
