Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Autographed By "Akihiko Yoshida Tarot Card Sweepstakes Winner
My Token Idea does.
It needs some refinement but basically All High Level NM's drop Tokens to any participant. Tokens can be used to pay off some NPC goblins in Player towns for features SE adds at their leisure including Storage, Gambling for new items only obtainable through the Goblins, and even things like a Barbershop. I bet goblins are great at cutting hair.
It doesn't Scream Casual or Hardcore, its a middle ground. You have to level up to participate in the fight (Time spent playing), You have to participate in the fight (Skill), and the fights that drop tokens will all be challenging and require tactics (Challenge.)
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
QFT.
I like to consider myself hardcore (though some of the sweeping generalisations made on these forums are APPALLING) but I have to ask: are you taking drugs OP? Seriously now. None of what you have put down is hardcore, just timesink.
Understand the difference. I want to log in one night and fight an NM with my LS that requires us to have tactics, skill and a little luck ala the weapons in final Fantasy VII, etc. I do NOT want to waste time getting there, or dying and then having to run halfway across Hydalyn just to arrive as the NM is downed. That is stupid and not right.
I also do not want to wait for old age to hit me before the NM pops, Im hardcore, not jobless, I have other things to attend to IRL that far outweigh wasting time on a GAME.
I think you need to re-evaluate what you really want out of an MMO.... and then go and find it, as I can guarantee you will always complain of this game.
Yeah, I simply want the same as you do.
There is no Challenge in waiting for a Monster to respawn but the fight with it should be.
I really hope to see some War Ground with a Large scale Battle which requires strategy not only in the battle itself but on the Battlefield itself.
You are not rewarding Everyone. You are rewarding the people who participate.
The token system would be just like a DKP system for an LS. Everyone gets points for showing up then they can spend those points leveraging them for power.
In game though they can be used to pay for things outside of gil so that only people who particpate in such end game events are rewarded with those benefits.
IE If the goblins have a Barbershop. With gil you can pick and chose to change your hair between any racial hair style for your race.
With tokens you get access to hair styles from other races.
With the Goblin Gambling Board you can buy a few low level gambling goblin bags with gil that might have crafted gear, or random low level drops in them. With tokens you can buy high level goblin bags that might have items comparable but not the same as end game drops.
Those are just examples. you have to participate but as long as you do eventually you are rewarded.

I support this for you Argh as long as they add Loyalty Mode
OP this will never happen thats twice the work. Just get your panties out of the bunch and relax.
Personally i think the arguement between hardcoee and casual is moot. People with less time want to be included meaning less barriers to entry within events and storyline not necessarily in terms of gear reward. Where as people with more play time want stuff thats challenging and will give them a focus to spend time to get a hard to attain item. We don't need an nm that takes 8 or more hours to kill just something that has a decent spawn timer snd two tiers of drops one semi rare that someone with not all the time in the world and a second much more rare item for those with more time and that rarw item combines with others to make or upgrade something to satiate the player woth time to invest. Thats what ive discerned make the entry to events attainable by everyone but make the drops have to be earned by everyone.
everyone here is acting on emotions. i produced factually correct examples;
that zergfests will be eliminated and strategic party play will be enforced by a meaningful death penalty.
that traveling will promote grouping and socializing to get to zones safely.
that tradable NM rare drops will boost economic activity but at the same time NM's being rare events to prevent flooding markets with rares.
that the game world would have a sense of real danger and sense of accomplishment.
that you would have to work for your levels and not be hitting end game so quickly to only then complain of lack of content.
that the game sold 600k+ copies at launch and there is only 30k players left.
that the 95% lost subscriber base did not even reach level 20 before they quit.
the only excuse the emo's are giving is that they don't want time sinks. the is quite laughable because this is an MMO, by nature it IS a time sink. if you want to teleport everywhere, solo play, and never socializing while zergfesting it all up then more power to you. you can have this on your server, as it currently is.
me and hundreds of thousands of others (i bet!) we have just as much enjoyment traveling through the world avoiding dangers and the perils of death (risk vs. reward!) while hunting and leveling up. we would rather form strategic parties for the common behests instead of button mashing the 1 key because there is that chance of getting killed in combat. we don't want to die because it hurts. we want to hunt NM's for their rare drops so we can profit off that or acquire the rares for ourselves. we enjoy sandbox elements. we don't race to end game. we plan for the challenges and dangers that lie ahead and we plan it together!
it is clear that people were expecting something similar to FFXI wrapped with pretty graphics and sound. lack of content is not what killed the game. the lack of fundementals did. it's final fantasy. it's ment to play in groups, to form a party. there has never been a final fantasy game that you played alone with a single character to end game.
this notion that we are "hardcore" players is bullshit. i got a wife and kids. i don't have the time to commit to games like i used to when i was younger. i (and the hundreds of thousands of others) enjoy a challenging mmo based on strategy, an immersive world frought with real danger, and a risk vs. reward system. we don't want shit handed to us. we want to play with sandbox elements and create our own points of interests (AKA camp and pull zones) and to travel the large game worlds. we don't want to play by ourselves in an mmo. if we only have an hour to play then something as simple as traveling a dangerous world to get to our destination and make a simple market transaction for profit is just as much fun for us as it is for your (the "gimmie mommy gimmie gimmie!" casuals) need to button-mash and zerg it all to death, just to get the same item that everyone else has.
