I hope you guys get it so you all stop griping about it and I don't have to deal with you whining while I play my game.

Seriously, the game didn't tank because it was casual. The game tanked because it was a freaking BAD GAME.

I'm trying my hardest to be polite. Really. It takes all I have to not completely rage at this post in full.

All what you need is to kill all the 20 new NM with a rank 20-25 party. I think this should be hardcore enough.
Or wait until there are the 8 man dungeons ingame.

    I'm sorry.

It's just that everything suggested in the OP is such a f**king joke.

I SINCERELY doubt that requiring a minimal monthly payment of $13 a month just to walk across a desert to kill a somewhat larger animal will succeed in bringing in a remotely feasible number of players needed to keep the game functioning.

I think they should make a hardcore only forum so all the hardcores could go there and measure Epeens and talk about the good ole ffxi days.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

Argh.. you really think that most of the people left because FFXIV is not hardcore enough? Seriously come on.

They left because there was simply nothing else to do except leves, grind, craft or gather. That daily loop combined with unstable client, lag, UI problems, performance problems etc. was the reason most of the players left. Also many people said that even though FFXIV tried to be casual, it wasn't.

the term hardcore is loosely used and has no meaning. there was nothing hardcore about FFXI. if you want to see what hardcore looks like you should play eve online or darkfall (two mmo's that i play) and experience having your corps looted upon death.

your basing that the game failed due to techincalities is incorrect. it is a slow paced game. packet latency due to overcrowding would not completely hinder your gameplay. in FFXI when there was 4300+ players on the server there was network lag during battles. i remember it specifically at the dunes camp and pull zones back in 2005. it did not cause people to quit playing.

you do not need more than 30 frames per second to have a smooth experience, either. the game quite extremely well on default settings (ps3 settings) at 720p on an 8800 GTX with quad core cpu. if you wanted to max the game out on that hardware it just would not work, not the game's fault.

like i said, it has failed because players were expecting an improved final fantasy, ffxi-2. one simple improvement? easy....the looking for group mentality took it's toll and players did not enjoy waiting 2 hours for camp and pull leveling zones due to their particular class / job. introduce a server-wide LFG feature that teleports you in the same camp and pull zone that other players have their flags up to battle and level up. you are in dunes with your flag up, a cross-server search gets performed and gives you the option to group up. once the party is full you are all teleported to be with eachother. the server location you are all placed in is random. exiting the zone teleports you back to your original server. server-wide LFG option can only be peformed if you are in the particular camp and pull zone. it's basically a copy of WoW's server-wide LFG.

the burden is on you guys to prove me wrong because i base my arguments on FACTS. there is 5% of the player base remaning. this remaining player base consists of the players that like the game as it was originally designed. what in the world makes these players think they have a right to complaing and whine about keeping the game as is? the game was designed for you 5% remaining FFS, and there is not enough of you to keep it alive, lol! more importantly, how stupid must the devs be to actually not reverse course and go back to the fundementals of ffxi?

you don't take FFXI and strip it's core elements to chase after the "casual" WoW market. hindsight is 20/20. if this came out as ffxi-2 it would not have bombed.

    LOL.
FFXIV is having a very rocky start simply because it radically lacks content and elements of convenience that MMORPG players have come to take for granted. It has nothing to do with it not being FFXI-2.

FFXI was designed for the market as it was eight years ago, and if it was rereleased now, it would bomb horribly, because the rules set by the market have changed (and in fact the only way in which FFXI managed to keep a part of it's playerbase is by making it much more casual-friendly).

Darkfall online is the perfect proof that a MMORPG designed to cater to the extremely small hardcore niche is doomed to fail miserably.

Sorry mate. There's no facts (and even less "FACTS") in your walls of text. There's only mistaking correlation with causation, and that's an immense logical fallacy.

Where are your arguments based on facts? The only thing I see is your opinion and perspective of the game...
Don't get me wrong. I like a challenging game with strategy and risks. I even like death penalties with exp or sp loss.
But I also like my life and can't spend countless of hours just to get decent equips or survive in this game.
The game has to be fun for both sides to be succesful. It can't be succesful by splitting the community even further.
Give the game some time, they never said this patch had any "hardcore" content therefore you shouln't expect it to be.
Future patches might give the "hardcore" content you are looking for (e.g. dungeons, raids, etc)

    As said by Naoki Yoshida:
As soon as we hammer out the basics of the new dungeon and raid environments..
For the sake of the game's community wait for this until you come with suggestions or complaints about the lack of "hardcore" content.

I don't think a single review of this game said things were easy. But if you think easy content is one and the same as content that doesn't take long to finish and/or get to, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Im not agaisnt this , i know i would Not play on that server or world.
Ultima online did it and eve from what i read is the most hardcore mmo game out there that puts ff11 to shame in that respect.

I guess its a solution to alot of the arguments going on atm .

People are saying they getting sick of harcore/casual debate (i see it as a debate) however if we keep making good suggestions like this one rather than saying we are right and they wrong when both sides are neither one or the other.

The worry dev might have is that it splits the players , but we would not know unless they tried it.
