It needs some refinement but basically All High Level NM's drop Tokens to any participant. Tokens can be used to pay off some NPC goblins in Player towns for features SE adds at their leisure including Storage, Gambling for new items only obtainable through the Goblins, and even things like a Barbershop. I bet goblins are great at cutting hair.

It doesn't Scream Casual or Hardcore, its a middle ground. You have to level up to participate in the fight (Time spent playing), You have to participate in the fight (Skill), and the fights that drop tokens will all be challenging and require tactics (Challenge.)
rewarding everyone just don't seem like the best idea for every type of event. Just my view on it.

You are not rewarding Everyone. You are rewarding the people who participate.

The token system would be just like a DKP system for an LS. Everyone gets points for showing up then they can spend those points leveraging them for power.

In game though they can be used to pay for things outside of gil so that only people who particpate in such end game events are rewarded with those benefits.

IE If the goblins have a Barbershop. With gil you can pick and chose to change your hair between any racial hair style for your race.
With tokens you get access to hair styles from other races.

With the Goblin Gambling Board you can buy a few low level gambling goblin bags with gil that might have crafted gear, or random low level drops in them. With tokens you can buy high level goblin bags that might have items comparable but not the same as end game drops.

Those are just examples. you have to participate but as long as you do eventually you are rewarded.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

its a game.. kinda the point of one, have a fun a rewarding experience.

    anyway on topic

if they make a server for everyone there would only be 100 ppl on the server and no one would really know anyway because not everyone is in the same timezone. There are not a ton of of players who can play the game for 5+ hours a day. I met more people who play 1-5 hours. Including the "hardcore" in ffxi. They mostly play at night after work. Which is why most event are that time. So far i never seen anyone beside me in ffxi who played as long as I did everyday.

Game are infact not all that hard. Once you learn how to kill or do something it becomes routine. So even then it is no longer hard after the first kill.
