    Lag spikes and 90ks continue

    ISP: Comcast

    Happens randomly inside and outside of dungeons. It seems like randomly Comcast will decide it doesn't like Level 3 and unfortunately i have to route through Level 3 normally in order to reach Canada.

    Paying for services like WTFast, Battleping, and even VPNs solve pretty much every issue with latency... even if it still appears high from the server. I have tested this via LAN, since I play with my SO - when I run WTFast and my SO does not, they get error 90000 and I do not when we are behind the same router.

    I apologize for going off on a tangent, I simply cannot justify paying for an additional service in order to play one game, and if it continues I know many people will cancel their subs. I have raised the issue with my ISP and they insist that either there's too much traffic on the line at peak hours or its the server. I don't have a reference number from my ISP but I have had techs service my home in the past two months and there has been new cables run and I have my own modem and router... so I am at a loss at what to do.

    Is there specific verbiage I can use while contacting my ISP to get them to treat traffic from FFXIV differently?

    People Freezing as I keep Moving

    I have people freezing while I can move around freely then everything speeds up after about 2-5 seconds to even a minute. This has been occuring too much recently and has been a big issue for gaming alone.

    Brand new modem and router and yet this lag has been hitting me hard since the new patch.

    - When does the problem occur (always, only during specific times?) : ALWAYS - At times I can play an hour without any disconnect, but at other times I get the error code 90 000 every 5 minutes. Logging back in takes a while with some other error code (can't recall the error code now, but something about my character already being logged in and to wait a while). Other times I dc with error code 90000 and am able to log back in straight away. However, it is frustrating to play 5 minutes and dc again, play 5 minutes, dc again, rinse and repeat. Dungeons are the worst and so are fates - to such a point that they have become unplayable.
    - Reference number from your ISP, if you raised this matter with them : No reference number obtained, but they have confirmed that the error is not on their end. I have purchased and set up a new router as well, upgraded my line, had new cables installed, and still the problem persists.
    Like many others, the problem only happens while playing FFXIV

    When does the problem occur: Seems to be random at the moment, but always when i enter dungeons via duty finder.

    No reference number, however ive been in touch with them, they checked various routes to the EU servers for me including the IP of Moogle (EU), the isp has no throttling in place for any type of traffic. After 2-3 days they called me to confirm there was no issue on their side of things which they could see and told me that i need to contact square enix/the data centre im connecting too. Today dungeons have been unplayable for me, spiking for 3-4 seconds every 30 seconds, tech support was no help at all so hopefully somewhere here can escalate this issue further so we can all find a solution.

    Asked for an official reply from my ISP and they were kind enough to email and check my connection again as well as send me the following response. (I can link a screenshot if required)

    Dear Sir or Madam,

    Thank you for your information.
    We have checked your connection and have noticed some spikes that have the same pattern as with the use of torrent software. We have also checked on the Square Enix forums regarding this issue and have noticed, that it is occurring at various ISP's all over the World.
    As such we unfortunately cannot offer much assistance with the issue, since it seems to only happen with this particular game. We kindly ask you to inform Square Enix about the issue and ask them for a solution. Thank you for your understanding.

    I get lots of lag after 4pm(EST). I've checked if I have problems with other online things at the same time I'm lagging in FF XIV and they all run fine. Only FF XIV gives me problems.

    When does the problem occur: This didn't start happening until 2.3. It happens randomly. The game goes to a crawl. This happens in short bursts. 10-15 seconds of running smoothly and around 5-10 seconds of this extreme choppy 1 frame per second lag. FF14 is the only game that this happens to. I can play for several hours without this happening, or it could happen pretty much as soon as I log in.

    I hope you guys are able to sort this out. I have 9 days left of membership. If this keeps happening I probably won't resub. I really enjoy playing but it's honestly to the point where I can't play because of the lag.
