Everyone who wants to play FFXIV has to use a VPN service? Yeah, that's definitely a solution..... Not.apparently with the program Spotflux (vpn) all my lag is gone and I am able to play. So far it's been about 10-15 minutes but I haven't had any disconnect or lag. try it out and let me know
RCN: Waltham, MA
Edit: I think Spotflux redirects your traffic so we can skip over the bad hop from Ti or whatever. This might be a solution guys!
Just a question, if the issue is caused by ISPs why did we all get this issue suddenly and only with ffxiv and not all ppl having this issue but yet having the same isp?
Also why is the issue gone when using a vpn, does not seem logical to me.
ISP: Time Warner Cable
Country: USA (San Diego, Ca)
Occurrence: Hours between midnight and 3am (pst) intermittently for about 15 minutes at a time
Reference #: I called but didn't write it down, they did put my modem on "hardware watch" but now I see the modem isn't the problem...
so using a VPN is safe and they cannot sniff your user/password, right?![]()

ISP: BT
Country: England
When: 6-11PM
Reference number: 130826-003996

Name of ISP : Orange
Country of Residence : France
When does the problem occur : Always
Concerning this matter, there is a long history in France between some ISP such as Orange and Free with the "transit provider" (fournisseur de transit) named Cogent. So i m pretty sure that when we send data to the server and when the server sends us some data then if it goes through the Cogent network then we ll have latency spikes.
Yesterday i tried to complet the fight vs Titan with some other players from Europe (1 player from Finland, Spain, UK and me from France). And it was a HUGE pain in the a** to complet this fight because even if we were outside of some AOE attacks, the server acted as if we were still in it from time to time. And when your screen freezes for 0.2-0.5s during the fight or when the server doesn't see you being outside of an AOE it ends badly... It was a really frustrating fight because the difficulty wasn't coming from the boss itself but from the latency.
And as an European player i m really disapointed by Square-Enix as far as i ve read that European servers where located in Canada ! Do you guys know your geaography ? Canada is VERY far away from Europe. How could it be ok to have EU servers located in North America if you want to have a low latency ? Anyway, if such a matter still occurs for the high lvl content then i already know that me and people from my guild won't stay as far as it won't be possible to play and fight bosses without being killed by the latency.
- RCN (PA)
- USA
- Major lag spike minutes after logging in; then anywhere from 30-45 mins of lag surges and sudden kickout from 90000.
does not matter if in town in heavily trafficked areas or out in area where very few people are.
