Anyone else having a hard time playing on PS3?

I play on PC too, but I got on last night to relax in bed and play it on my PS3...but the lag is close to unbarable. I couldn't even target and get a spell off in the FATE's, and even a simple quest to go kill some pirates was rough...I had 2 on me, the lag froze the game mid cast and then I was dead with like 5 pirates around me lol..

Anyone else experiencing this? I checked my signal strength and download speed etc and everything is more than okay..Just curious because I would like to be able to do dungeons and such later, but don't want to harm my team because the game can't run smooth on the PS3.

(I haven't tried an instance yet on the PS3, but I'm hoping it will be a little smoother without the open world lagging everything down.)

Outside of FATE it's ok but it's almost not playable in FATE with tons of players

Performance in a instance is near perfectly smooth.

During the early release it was pretty smooth and the only trouble I had was targeting when faced with a large mixed group of mobs/players.

Ever since live though Fate's have been far too laggy to add any sort of meaningful contribution. What did help a little bit though is to completely turn off everybody else's spell effects at all times. Then set party members to show only some spell effects some times.

You can of course take it steps further and turn theirs off completely as well as your own...but I like seeing my own flashy spell animations.

I haven't encountered any lag on Balmung yet.

I play on PS3 and I have only run into issues when a load of people are camping a mob quest pop area. Everyone charging and attacking usually lags a slight bit. Only issues I've run into, though.

In fates where alot is happening there seem to be serious lag, in the fate in Coerthas Central Highlands with the Dragon, sometimes the Dragon doesn't even show up, you can see where its supposed to be because everyone is attacking it but it just isn't there and you can't select it.

I play on PS3 exclusively and the only problem times are large population areas and fates. Got my worst lag during a Treant fate. Seems to have a tough time with all the leaves or something.

Having said that, my guess is that the lag and small PS3 issues seem much worse to you coming from PC. I would probably think I was in some kind of dream world if I played on a nice PC rig.

I'm having the same problem. If the camera is facing the ground and I'm too zoomed out and a treant is in view, the game staggers to a stop. Its a huge issue in the WHM storyline where there's 3 of them on screen at once. But the game has no problem loading the rest of Gridania, just that top view of Treants is killer. Really odd. Maybe its the size?

The branches of trees/treants must just pretty complex to render or something, it is likely not be fully optimized. In 1.0, if you had any of the event christmas trees on screen at all most people's computers would start to chug and heat up, and turning the camera to get a view inside them would make the game stall like mad. The same issue happened when they released the moogle fight where the entrance area had a lot of treants. In both cases, the issues got fixed at some point so it shouldn't be an issue in the long run.

I remember turning off shadows helped a lot in those instances, if the PS3 has that option you can try that?
