Possible memory leak / gpu error (Game skips)

Im playing on an I5 2300 2.8 6GB ram gtx 760 latest nvidia beta drivers.

The game runs just fine untill a couple hours of gameplay, then the game starts skipping like its losing frames. Sometimes its small annoying jitters sometimes its a slightly longer pause. Ive noticed it most in south shroud / thanalan areas. Warping out fixes the issue but it quickly comes back when I return to the area. Ive noticed random jumps in gpu load rising and falling, and rises in gpu temperature. I suspect its the beta drivers... Could this be caused by my 6GB ram? Should I get more? Please help.

hey, personally i haven't experienced such game skips, but im using non beta drivers, simply because the latest nvidia drivers are messing up with my win 8 installation. try downgrading to non beta and test it out.
i'm using the 320.49 final release but custom installed only the video drivers and physx( for some reason gforce experience and hdaudio were messing my windows , BSOD)

I don't believe your RAM is involved here. I have ran into a similar situation as well. Though sometimes the game runs perfectly, npcs spawn like they should when they should. However then it begins to skip frames and even the music skips, npc's take FOREVER to spawn. Whats even more bizarre is that I am running better in Maximum vs Standard????

I am not sure what is going on because I run maximum fine but then when the skipping begins it lasts for a while and its pretty intolerable. I found a temporary fix I think. I changed the display settings from 32-bit color to 16-bit but I would prefer to put it back on 32-bit. I am going to check for driver updates for my NVidia card when I get out of work though I don't believe NVidia is the problem here, it seems as if the game is just not running correctly.

THIS exactly! Have any of you watched the memory usage in your Task Manager? The game seems to continuously increase memory usage as you play. Starting at 450k and after an hour or two is approaching 600k. WoW used to rarely have the same issue. After playing for many hours "rarely" the game would just keep increasing memory use. I would sometimes see it in the 900k-1.2 million range. A restart would fix it.

But how can we restart after every 2 hours and then risk not getting back in due to full servers?

This has happened to me as well, the game runs fine for like the first hour or so, and then it has major FPS dips, music lags, jitters as well. I am running at high desktop default settings, no v-sync, 1920 x 1080 rez and using the latest beta NVIDIA drivers. I may dial back the rez or before that try stable video drivers.

I definatly saw 800-1mil in memory usage in task manager....thats a bit insane? That cant be normal?

Restarting the client brought it back down to 600k and slowly rising

This is just a guess, but the game is probably seeing that you have available memory so as it loads new things (areas, textures, possibly characters) it's caching them all for faster use later which is why the memory usage keeps increasing.

Using a lot of memory isn't a problem though, it's only an issue if your available memory gets low because then Windows will start using the pagefile (hard drive) as memory which is considerably slower. If the game is caching (and not leaking) it should be checking the available memory so it doesn't take more than it actually needs.

As a few others said in this thread, trying the non beta video drivers is probably your best bet (and selecting "Clean install" when you install them).
