The visibility range of "!" mark is way too big!

Can you please make the quest marker ! range a lot smaller please?

See your previous FF titles like FF IX for reference. Also there's a game called Resonance of Fate that uses the same quest markers but their range is reasonable. It motivates the player to explore and to talk to even the NPCs that aren't quest givers.

In XIV I feel like a retard because I'm always running from a massive beacon to another it really hurts the immersion the same way those massive bake-sale aggro symbols do.

    Yeah, those GIGANTOUS aggro symbols...

Damn, you made me all nostalgic. The excitement and joy of being forced to talk to every single NPC in every single town to figure out just who can progress the story or the sidequest further. I always thought to myself "if I actually wanted to talk to every one of these NPC's I would do so voluntarily" but I guess the developers need to force it on you for you to get the most "fun" out of it.

Since when your objective is to find quests and not "find out what's going on in the world" you really give a crap about what John the Tailor has to say.

I don't really think quest markers are "casual" or "hardcore". It's a matter of convenience vs immersion I suppose. I like having the icons because I'd rather not have to talk to every NPC in every city every 5 ranks to see if I got new quests. I really don't have the time to do something like that.

No thanks, I like the NPC quest icon just fine. Way better than looking up info on quests on other websites.

I also like the aspect of ahving to talk to all the NPCs. But as I love exploring, I have more or less been talking to every NPC in the cities allready and therefore heard their stories.

When they implement new side-quests 6 months after the release, they need to mark it in some way. I would have to be in a good mood to spend a day running around talking to all NPCs once again just to discover new quests - which I think goes for a lot of other people that have explored the world of Eorzea allready.

When starting to play FFXI, most of the quests were implemented, and it was a joy exploring of course, which the start of FFXIV was as well.

I would suggest adding some other kind of hinting system though, perhaps a NPC or bulletin board that would tell you that there is a woman or man in a specific area that needs your help - thus making you talk to the npcs in that specific area. F. Ex.: "There is a man within the miner's guild that is looking for aid collecting some items, adventures should seek him out." That would make you tamale NPCs within the miners guild.

Options are good. If you want to turn them off I agree you should be able to but I think that people who want them should be able to have them. I myself enjoy all of the new icons on the map and its much easier for new people to get into the game when they just want to know where to go.

I actually agree. Make it toggleable. So I can toggle off quest indicators at my leisure.
