New tanking class Idea

So I was thinking about what jobs could branch off of what classes without changing the main hand weapon and there was one that stuck out. I am not going to spoil the story of the game this class is in but in FFIV the after years one of the classes is the Holy Dragon Knight (HDK).
Its main job would be LNC its secondary would be GLD and its third would be CNJ. When the soul crystal is equip'ed the tanking stats would increase and the job abilities would focus on reducing damage and hindering the enemy (if you want to be true to how the class would work it would require some form of jumping ability) like a jump that reduces the overall damage for a period or grants a defense bonus to the user. But that's just my idea.

I guessing the next tanking job will be a Ninja that branches off from a Thief type class. They could even go further and have Thief branch off into a Assassin type job for dps. Weapon type would be a dual dagger/kodachi set

A melee mage tank (Arcanist + Conjurer, with Marauder or Paladin as third) would seem nice. Think of all those AP tanks you see in LoL.

We have our Mit Tank and Self Heal Tank, so it would have to be an avoidance based Tank. So a Ninja seems quite apt, however based on them being a sort of Ranged class with the Throw command, I'm not sure how that would work.

I second this motion. I'd make it my main in a heartbeat! Made tanking a blast.

Ninjas were not originally designed to tank, they just kind of fell into that role. I think I remember it being mentioned somewhere if ninja was brought back it would be dps. Could be wrong on that though.

Ninja was never meant to tank. Shadows were suppose to be used to avoid dmg if they pulled threat. The player base did the unexpected and took a class in a different direction than the developers intended and it worked.

We already have War and Pld for tanks and if they were going to add new classes I would rather see either:
DRK, SAM, THF or BST

Back when PLD was the tanking class in XI I would run PLD and my friend ran RDM and when NIN became popular and I couldn't get a party as PLD we switched roles and I did BRD and he did NIN.
