Seeking advice: PC and PS3 Audio through single headset.

I have a PC upstairs, and a PS3 downstairs. When the children are asleep in the bedroom, I like to play downstairs on the PS3.

I am looking for a wireless headset with good range so I can keep it connected to Skype or other 3rd party voice software on the upstairs PC while playing downstairs on the PS3 console.

The second part of the question is about how to get the PS3 game sound coming through a wireless headset at the same time as the sound from the PC upstairs. I know the simple solution is to have the PS3 game sound coming out of the TV and just have the headset on one ear, but this isn't ideal as it can mess with the mic position and become uncomfortable. Is there any headset that can receive audio from two sources, or some wireless audio mixing device which I can link to one headset?

I've been googling but I don't have much knowledge about audio terms so any help would be great.

How is everyone else handling this? Just mute game sound? Single ear headset with game sound through TV? Voice chat through speakers on laptop / mobile device? Interested to hear about your setups and how you're getting on with these.

EDIT: Also have an IPhone which may / may not be relevant to any possible solutions.

You can use an audio splitter or a mixer to do what your describing, although it depends how far the PS3 is from the PC as a completely wireless option can get very expensive.

As for headsets, most now come with a 25-50m range, however this is usually a range given when there is no obstructions (walls, pipes, electrical wiring etc) but most wireless headsets from a reputable brand should be able to work fine through most average sized houses.

The cheapest option would be to just use voip on your iphone when at the PS3. Skype, Mumble, Ventrilo and Teamspeak all have apps for the iphone

    Thanks Tribunus.

It's a shame there's no wireless headset with built in audio splitter / mixer for dual audio source. I'll have a look at some wired and wireless audio splitter / mixers as I can probably wire up to IPhone if necessary and TV that way and just leave the upstairs PC out of it. Hopefully the IPhone can handle long sessions on the voice chat apps.

Then again, (depending on cost of wireless audio splitter / mixer) the thought of being leashed to two devices makes the thought of a one ear wireless headset sound pretty convenient. I wonder what cross platform voice chat options will become available with PS4.

Thanks again for the advice. A few options to consider.
