    Enemy icon/rank toggle

Please forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere, this is my first post on the official forum so I may have missed a similar thread.

I just wanted to make a quick comment on the enemy icon/rank toggle. When reading the patch notes it sounded like a really good idea, especially as by default the data is set to "off".

However, the simple fact that moving your cursor on to a target still gives you the same information regardless as to whether or not the data is set to "off" seems to render the entire ammendment redundent.

Was it really that difficult to implement a "check" feature that will provide you the given information should you decide you want it? I'm not a role player but I do appreciate a certain level of immersion. It seems almost pointless to toggle the above information off, if I am only going to be presented this data as soon as I target a mob anyway. I'm very frustrated at having my hand held through this game and being spoon fed information. The increased sense of immersion and challange created by the data toggle feature is just completely undermined as soon as you target/engage an enemy.

It would make much more sense to add a check feature via the interactive menu that will give me my target data if I want it.

having to click check is annoying tbh. More so when claiming something is on the line. By the time you hit check someone else could claim before you. Plus in ffxi check only said the about level. where in ffxiv you get the actual level. Also its a video game, and an FF one you always had ways of seeing mob levels. either straight up or from scan. Kinda silly to complain about it "hand holding" and "spoodfed info".

How is knowing a mobs level making the game easy easier? it stop you from doing something stupid tbh. Like attack something that can 1 shot you.

Annoying to YOU perhaps. How often do you actually check something when a important claim is at stake? You check every mob at an XP camp? You need to check an NM before claiming it? Experience will teach you these things and learning is all part of the MMO journey. I'm not complaining about the fact we are given detail about the mobs lvl/aggro status. Try reading the post thoroughly next time before just picking holes for the sake of it.
My post relates to the point of being able to "hide" the mob information. Of course the information is important. Even if the idea of exploration and discovering these things for yourself isn't. Why hide this data when targeting the mob gives the data regardless. Go back, read my post again.

As far as "hand holding" and "spoonfeeding", try reading posts in relation new npc quest markers. Have you played the game long enough to use the journal? You may as well be handed the quest reward at the start as you are given step by step directions (map markers included) on any quest from start to completion. If you use this tool then there simply is no challange to the quest/no exploration required. You simply follow the prompts from your journal.

There is no scope for you to actually have to work things out for yourself.

Furthermore, I do not see your character on the Lodestone, do you even play this game? If you do not then I can only suggest you are not so fast to critique posts when you lack the first hand knowledge that goes with playing.

Stupid, why would you be camping and waiting to instant claim something you have no idea if you can kill or not. Thats like waiting around for King Behemoth to claim on your 30 war. lol

If you seriously need to check something before claiming it as others might claim, you are not high enough to fight it (but you'd of already known this either by looking up online to find out where it spawns, asking someone or seeing it being killed by someone so you can wait 3 minutes for it to repop)

Eh being able to togle it away from my general line of sight is good enough for me. I don't agree with agro icons and knowing the level of everything I walk across. But at least I don't have it staring me in the face when I as much as look at a monster.

I just consider targeting a monster to be "Checking" it.

    This.
I actually enjoy this feature as long as it's not here when I don't want to like pre-patch. It does not kill immersion any more than a chat-log that describes every single action, a number popping over the mobs head after an action or an HP bar, it's just convenient.

i don't know, we had masses of discussions about this so called "spoonfeeding" markers and such, and i think this is still a useless discussion.
this is a thing based on opinions.
to me it adds nothing if i'm not able to see the enemies level, aggro radius, NPCs that have quests etc.
i just want a good challenge, and knowing which npcs have a quest or not isn't challenge to me, more like random talking and spaming the enter button to skip their useless talking.

things like "!" markers or little icons showing the mobs level really fly by for me.
i don't change my playstyle knowing the monster might be too low or to high, there are still monsters that are below my LNC that go down in a blast, and others that put up more of a fight.

i accept that ppl won't like this so called "spoonfeeding" stuff, but you also have to accept that we're in the year 2011, and alot of MMOs have proven to be sucessful by exactly adding those "spoonfeeding" effects.
after all, this isn't FFXI anymore, and SE is still a business group wanting to make games that appeal to a big majority of players.
i don't hate SE for adding those things to their games, after all they still have to make money with it.
aslong SE keeps making their games a good challenge filled with a good story and alot of fantasy i'm all in for it.
things like aggro icons or "!" bubbles above NPC heads are just side effects that i can look over.
