Scholar's healing throughput

The lack of strong Scholar healing throughput seems crippling. They just don't have the ability to handle situations where group burst healing is required.

Scholar has serious trouble keeping up with the Murder damage and the two flies at the same time. White Mage, however, has no issue; they can dump all of their MP into heavy heals, to get us through the phase.
For example, in Amdapor Keep, I dread having a Scholar in my group. They have too much trouble with the latter half of the Demon Wall.

The issue, I think, is that Scholar's healing is centered around shields. Shields aren't useful if two heals are cast in a row, without the shield being consumed, however. This destroys Scholar's throughput and makes them less desirable than White Mage for many counters. In fact, the only two encounters I can think of where Scholar is more desirable than White Mage are Garuda and the Tonberry King. This is because their shields help their party or tank survive any ability that would otherwise almost one shot.

I propose either making the shields stack to a certain amount (this might be too powerful), or increasing the healing done by their shielding spells by 50% if the target is already shielded.

Is it possible to talk about healing throughput when you have no synergy with any other classes, due to I guess rushing to level 50? Get some proper synergy then please complain about balance.

What synergy would that be then? Swiftcast, Stoneskin and Protect are all they can use that has anything to do with healing or are you suggesting slotting Thunder would somehow help the issue he seems to be having?

Also, be sure to use Rouse around that time Demon Wall summons the adds, it'll help Eos contribute more to the party... assuming she isn't dead.

Having both jobs at 50, I understand your concern, and the Demon Wall truly is extremely taxing to me when I play as a SCH there.

Their ability to heal groups is their biggest weakness, but they do not have a weakness for restoring a single targets HP to full. For this, they have Lustrate. If the SCH is any good at what they do, they'll know to keep Aetherflow going, and to spend their Aether on Lustrate as needed in case of emergency. While it only restores 20% of the targets maximum HP (making it especially useful for healing tanks), the "spell" is instantly cast and costs nothing in return except a single tally off your Aetherflow.

Demon Wall however, seems to pray on the SCH's weakness to heal the group, and has damaging AoE effects that, at times, can seem very difficult to grasp and avoid despite the simple pattern. I have to keep Aetherflow ready for this point of the battle, and have 3 already existing tallies ready as well, so that I can heal targets as needed as quickly as possible, and STILL this fight manages to defeat me at times.

Both jobs have their strengths and weaknesses, but they have great synergy together. While I agree that SCH lacks something, I don't think they lack as much as WHM currently does.
