Dragoon Builds and what stats to focus on?

I was wondering If some people can share some dragoon builds and I was also wondering what does the skill stat speed do?

I do not see my self attacking any faster even when i wear pieces that give speed.

I'm basically just going pure STR for damage.

Skill Speed, if I'm not mistaken, reduces the GCD timer and auto-attack timer minimally with low values, but it could be significant later on. With 244 Skill Speed at level 36 only, it's brought down my GCD to 2.45s down from 2.5, I believe. If I can bring that down to 2.2 or so when I'm 50, that's a huge DPS boost.

Hey Timeless I started the above thread for this very reason if you wanna poke through there for some info. However I'd be happy to answer your question here!

So Stat wise this is my priority for gear. Str > Crit Chance > Determination > Accuracy > Skill speed.

Skill speed is nice, but the way you can set up your hot bar as dragoon, I feel you can mix abilities in between GCD. Simple example is True thrust > Blood for BLood > Vorpal thrust > Life Surge > Full thrust.

True triggers GCD > B4B does not > Vorpal does rotate GCD and non GCD when you can.

Crit chance vs. Determination vs. Acc is up to you. We have high potency skills and I wanna crit as much as possible Determination get the second slot as it further increases Damage output and how much i'm healed for. With that said skill speed is definitely useful still but at 50 is when it starts to shine.

Stats all in STR, Gear Wise: STR > Crit Chance > Determination

Just going by my feeling of how combat in this works, I think that skill speed's benefit may be limited in the long run due to attack animation locks and resource needs.

If you attack too fast, you may experience TP starvation. If your GCD is faster than the animations, you'll have dead time anyways. Crit/Determination just feel like they'll give a more consistent contribution to your damage, especially in longer fights.

Good read, the Dex option was a little confusing since I (as of level 25) couldn't see any reason for ranged atk power. Any dragoons out there want to shed some light on why that option is available? Unless its for the defensive properties. Otherwise I through a few in vitality the rest in strength.

I believe dexterity might have a mild effect on crit chance, but in comparison str totally outclasses it. You can through a few points into vit for stability, but i can't say i recommend it. I have a sneaking suspicion that attribute points will come in play when classes start getting a second job. Similar to Mind and Int for Scholar and Summoner respectively.

Dexterity's effect on crit (and accuracy) was removed for ARR. Dexterity *only* boosts Archer/Bard attacks and Block/Parry rates. So technically it serves a function for Dragoons, but it's such a laughably small one that it's not worth it.

For attribute allocation, 30 points in Strength is optimal.

Sorry didn't know there was another thread. I will take look at though but someone made a very valid point about if you attack too fast you run out of TP. I guess the speed stat is an after thought.

Also I am glad you guys are sharing your builds .
