Chocobo build for Pallies

Hello fellow tanks,

my main is a pally, and I was wondering, how should I build my chocobo: attacker or healer? I suppose it's obvious I wouldn't want it to be defender (or is it?). Don't wanting to compare, but my pally in WoW could pretty much solo anything non-instanced, but I'd take literally forever to kill some of the higher HP mobs, if I was alone. So having an attacker companion would be the best.

Now, in FFXIV, I'm not sure if pallies are all about survivability (i.e. they don't kill, but they don't die - as in WoW) or if they can actually throw some DPS, if they focus on it. So, in case we're all about survivability, I'd prefer an attacker companion. In case we could DPS if we could focus on it, I'd prefer a healer chocobo, as I hate healing myself if I can avoid it.

I suppose that for Warriors it's pretty clear they should go for a healer chocobo.

Oh, BTW, I'm assuming I'd spend all my points in one single tree, as I've been told that's the only way to max it.

Is that really true?
Or should I consider a mixed build (some points in healer tree, some in attacker tree)?

DPS isn't that great as a Pally.
I haven't decided how I want to spec my chocobo, but will probably go Heal since my Pally is capped and I'm going to be raising my 26 Mar up to War next. But given the choice to do it over again I'll would probably do mostly dps on the chocobo

I'm level 35 now and have NO AoE damage abilities so you wont be tanking lots of mobs to AoE down so you shouldn't need much heals so i'd say spec for dps.

You'll be using your Chocobo for other classes/job as well so I recommend building a tank. It's helpful. I hope this helps, especially since I'm level 41 and have not used my Chocobo as of yet. So it's not necessary needed.

im goin for full healer choco cause even on other classes it will help.how long will your choco tank on a fate nm or any tough mob?

I rolled healing and i love it... i can grind on with the chain without stopping
