    Crafting Guide for Beginners

Hey guys. Let me just say that I have fallen in love with the crafting in this game! There truly is nothing else like it out there and SE has done a wonderful job in innovation in this regard. I know for myself, I didn't really think about quality/control until after level 20 and when I discovered the greatness of the system, I started having a lot of fun with it.

I still have a lot to learn, but I hope you guys enjoy these videos I have made to help people get started with crafting (there is a link to the first one). Feel free to leave any feedback/suggestions/corrections as well

Not wishing to be rude, just passing on my 2 pence:

I'd rather you write out the guides; I personally dislike hearing someone explain something over 15 mins which I can understand within 5 minutes by reading.

Fair enough. If I get some extra time I will . Some people however, are visual, hence the video. Plus I think it is an outlet for those who have not yet played to see what it's like.

Thank you for taking the time to make the guides. The videos really help you get a feel for what you're about to do (so please keep it up), but a text guide makes it more accessible. Especially to just jump in an reference something.

Again, thank you for taking the time, people like you make the forums worthwhile.

I agree with what other about saying about a written guide if you get time. But on the plus side the videos are very well done and you've got a good voice for narration.
The only thing I would say is possibly turn the game volume (especially sound effects) down a bit because they're a bit distracting.

Thanks guys for the encouragement and constructive criticism. Once I get settled in my new job I started this week, I'm gonna write out key points for each video like you guys recommended. Definitely agree it will make it more accessible. Also, as a side note, I've decides to be primarily a crafter. The synergies I keep discovering are amazing and my Pally will just have to wait!

Hi Tonkatsu, thanks for the videos. I haven't finished watching them so sorry if this is answered already (from the titles of your videos it looks more focused on crafting skills so far).

I have reached lvl.15 carpenter and am starting to find recipes with ingredients which I can't find from the vendor. I understand that elm logs, for example, can be gathered with the botany class or purchased from other players on the market boards. I noticed the prices on the market boards are quite high for materials. It seems it would be much cheaper to just buy finished equipment on the market boards than to purchase the materials and craft it myself. So I'm considering starting botany to compliment the carpenter class.

Then I notice some carpenter recipes require other non-vendor materials like iron ingot. So it seems I would also have to learn both Miner and Blacksmith to obtain the ingot myself (unless purchased on the player market board)? Is it the case that to be successful in one crafting discipline requires one of two things:

    a. Level all disciples of land and hand together
or b. purchase materials from other players.

I'm not keen on option A just now as I want to focus on getting through the main scenario and not get too bogged down in the crafting.
Option B sounds ok, but too be able to afford the materials I would have to start selling stuff myself as well. I'm a little worried about using the market boards and what prices to set when selling. I'd really like to create some of my own staffs and equipment for friends but I'm slightly nervous about going into "business" on the market boards.

Any advice here? I'm guessing the idea of making the crafts interdependent is to nurture an economy, but I'm worried about getting ripped off and what I can sell myself / at what price to make money.

tldr; I want to just level carpenter (maybe also botany) to make some equipment for myself and friends. Will I need to use the market boards to progress after lvl.15? If so, what is the best way to make my money for the ingredients needed. What is a good item to sell and how can I determine a fair price?

Thanks for reading. Would you be interested in making a video to introduce the concept of trading on the market boards and how to generate enough money with your chosen craft to put back into the ingredients required?
