    Contacting Consumer Affairs to fix the Account mess SE refuse to

    After days and days of trying to get Square Enix to fix the mess they created with my account and region locking (see this thread http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Locking-Issues!!!!!!!!!) I am taking it to Consumer Affairs today.

    I bought this game in good faith. Paid over $100AUD for a Collectors Edition. Followed Square Enix's instructions explicitly to register my pre-order. But because of their error it has now locked me out of being able to use the game code I paid for. And despite all efforts to have this issue remedied, it has not been addressed.

    This renders my physical copy unfit for the purposes it was bought for, and as such entitles me to seek remedy and/or compensation through Consumer Affairs from Square Enix.

    I would strongly suggest everyone else that has region locking issues and has been told pretty much stiff.....buy a new copy/make a new account do the same in their country. It is only by doing this will we send the message to Square Enix that ignoring the people that bought legal copies of the game that are unfit for use and not having this account/region issue rectified is unacceptable.

    Since a lot of people I talk to find that this works for them I'm going to ask if you used the 4-4-4-4-4 code into the mogstation?

    Yes I did. That was how I first tried to register my copy.
    My issue is that I had an existing NA account. When I received my pre-order EU code I followed Square Enix's instructions explicitly, and was able to redeem it through my NA account during Beta 4 (but never received my 20 digit windows code). Thinking this was an oversight as this happened to a lot of others I used a friend's spare pre-order code and got Early Access.
    When I received my physical EU Collectors Edition on the 26th, I went to the Mog Station as was instructed and tried to redeem my game code. I then got the message that I could not do so as my Account is not in the correct region.
    So the issue for me is that because Square Enix accepted my EU pre-order code on my NA account I never made a new EU account. If I had done so I would have no issues at all. My son, and my partner both have their copies registered and are playing just fine as neither had an existing NA account.

    The problem is the wording on our pre-order: "Please note you will need a Square Enix Account to redeem these codes. If you do not already have one, please go here to register: account.square-enix.com". And that during Beta 4, I was able to redeem my EU code on a NA account.

    Well, your best bet is to wait until all the server fixes coming this weekend and try contacting SE support, they are pretty swamped now with all the service requests pelting them about 1017 issues. I really don't know if consumer affairs is goign to solve your problem faster than waiting for SE to work through all the service requests.

    Problem with that is that will be past the cut-off date for applying a valid registration code to a pre-order account, and as I understand it that will lock me out of my pre-order characters, and I will have to start afresh, (and as it seems at the moment will also lock me out of being able to play on the same server as my son and my partner as our server is not allowing new character creation), and lose my pre-order bonuses.

    I think they could easily reactivate your preorder account when they can get around to answering everyone's tickets. Letting time run out on an account will not lock it permanently, only until a key can be applied.

    Maybe square enix assumed you would have brought the game from the correct region to begin with? Why did you get a na account the first time around?

    I'm Australian, but I made a NA account during FFXI because I was in the US visiting a friend for several months 4 years ago when I bought the game and made my account.
    (well actually during FFXI we weren't even able to register an account with SE from Australia. But we could buy it here....go figure)
    Now I am home in Australia and bought the Collectors Editions from EB Games. Australia comes under EU region.
    Like I said earlier, if SE had told me my pre-order code could NOT be redeemed as it was EU and my account was NA there would be no issue as I would have made a new account. But they didn't, they allowed it to be redeemed on my NA account.
