    Ps3 Targeting

    Hello,

I play on PS3 and I was wondering If anyone is having any trouble targeting. when Im doing a fate its really hard to target monsters because I end up targeting everything including other players so I'm actually pretty slow. I read online if I have my weapon off I should target only monsters but I'm still having trouble. I worry what will happen when I get to dungeons. Anyone else have this problem? any suggestions?

You can set filters in the character settings menu. As I've been playing certain things like what you described are a bit annoying, but once you set the filters and memorize the commands for them targeting is actually pretty easy. Not as easy as K+M, but easier than say, DCUO (shudders).

Ooo look a question I can actually help with! lol

    Bold font for TLDR version.

I was running into this same issue and it was a pain during the fates just like you mentioned. The other persons answer of using the filters is obviously a great suggestion and I definitely recommend it once you figure out how you want to use the filters and what way suits you best.

But, until you get that figured out, I found a really quick and easy fix to the problem so you dont have to change any settings right away

So when you are playing on the ps3 the default is to target the thing closest to you, which works out great since that is usually the thing you want to punch in the head, but when your weapon is sheathed it also targets people.

So long story short If you simply hit L3 it will pull out your weapon and then you will only target the mobs, not people, hit it again to target other players now you can do fates without losing your mind

The up and down on they d pad is essential for healers! But it only works in a party that I can tell.

As a healer to you can create a macro that targets the target of your target. That makes it a billion times easier to target people to heal outside of parties.

Haha I am glad that i was able to help you guys out , when I saw the post i just instantly knew i had to post the fix that I had found because I know how much this drove me crazy and I always felt like i was getting screwed out of both the xp for mobs but mainly the xp for finishing the fate since it is based on your contribution.

If only they counted me hitting the targeting button a million times trying to target the mob as actual contribution! haha

As for the up and down keys for healing, I agree they are priceless.
But the same goes for the right and left keys on the D-Pad for dps, because when you have your weapon out, after you try and target a mob you can spam the left and right keys and it will scroll through the mobs from closest to furthest so that way you can target the right one for attacking.

It is actually a decent system once you get the hang of it

    The macro is /target <tt>

You make a macro by going to "User Macros" in the config section.

Stick it on a slot in your action bar no matter what class you are, it's insanely useful. Now DDs can target the tank, then hit that to fight whatever they are fighting without having to guess at it, Healers in FATEs can heal people that are out-of-party.

As someone mentioned, make sure to mess around with the many many targeting filter options.
