If the Quarrymill is offering shards the go to Uldah. There is a qest, gloves I think, that you bring to quarry for turn in. This quest gives 4 webs. Then sign up in quarry for the coif qest. so far for me that gets nets up instead of shards everytime. I will do couple of coif quests until it offers shards. Then I go back to Uldah. BTW You can choccobo to south end of map, catch another chocc to drybone and third to Uldah, or vice versa. So if one end or the other is a home point round trip only costs about 120 gil or so.

I farmed all mine in the shroud as well. Wasn't all that bad and they do seem to drop 1-3 webs pretty consistently. Its definitely worth the time to save the gil. You'll get plenty of sinew as well.

Screw it, web's gone cheap on Behemoth, I'll share what I did for leves. The trick is that completing any leve at all cycles the rewards for all of them. So if, for example, you finish a botany leve then it also cycles all the other classes leves too. Using this you can fairly easily and quickly cycle through leves if you have a large number of allowances (took me maybe 30 allowances to get 400 webs), and it also gets you useful xp.

I found this was good because I could then level other crafts and botanist while waiting for the appropriate reward to appear. Plus, once you get web it seems to appear for a good run of leves. I'd regularly get at least 80 web before it either switched or I got off. The only issue here is the number of materials you actually need. If you buy base materials then The Telltale Trees ends up costing about 100 gil/web, largely thanks to shards (I'm also doing LTW, so crafted my own hard leather). Obviously you could gather mats to drop this cost, although you need a lot of shards. Getting Handsy also gives diremite web and is cheaper, but also gives less web per allowance. I personally didn't do the level 25 leves, since at least one of them actually required velveteen, but you could do them too.

Why do I say level other crafts? Because you get a ton of xp just from making the items and turning in the leves for WVR. I went from 23 to 27 just earning my webs, hopefully crafting them should put me up to linen.

This does need to be addressed Diremite web is a nightmare if none of the leves are offering and the Diremites are being heavily camped.

Fleece and all of leatherworking are worse. You can easily get to 28 off a few cotton leves. Taking Flax/Linen from 28 to 50 is a nightmare in terms of time and fleece is more expensive because its used for Wool AND Felt.

I took Weaver to 47 with Linen, and finished with Felt.

Definitely wasn't too time consuming, took like 5 days and I didn't use many leves (15 total or so). I even had work during these five days!

5 days is definitely time consuming and 15 leves is a lot for crafting considering 1 leve allowance is a ~70k or ~95k with no HQs depending on if you're doing the 35 or 40 linen triple leves. That's over a million xp from the guildleves. I farmed 1000 flax and did 11 leves too and coupled with the quests it also took me to 47. Everything from around level 36 until I started turning in the guildleves was definitely extremely time consuming compared to when I was actually crafting stuff around my level.

We differ in opinion then. 5 days for me is pretty much nothing!

Fleece is just as bad if not worse than diremite, partially because many of the woolen recipes use fleece AND diremite/velveteen. Neither would be an issue if the mobs that drop them weren't so bloody rare. What the heck were they thinking??
