What needs to be done again after changing GC's?

So I am one of those unfortunate enough to accept the first quest that popped when being prompted to choose GC, and like many others selected the Twin Adders because it was the first quest that popped (yah i know its stupid, anyway..)

I was Immortal Flames in 1.0 and want to go back there because i like Ul'dah best, and have gear in flames, I have now completed mainstory and am about to become Second sergeant rank needed to be able to change GC.

My question to anyone of you who have alread changed are:
Do we have to redo all of the story line just to get access to all dungeons and primal battles and such? or can I still be able to join my friends in Lv50 dungeons after changing GC?

Also, if anyone knows if everything from 1.0 GC is lost by choosing another GC in ARR or if we actually get to keep the 1.0 stuff after going back to that GC would be great to know.

Thanks for any information regarding this, google isn't helping!

Since the storyline quests and grand company quests are completely separate, I would imagine that the only thing you might need to redo are GC quests, and ranking up again, but aside from that you should probably already have access to all the dungeons etc that you had access to before.

Yeah that's what I feel would be logical, but I'm just wondering if anyone has done it can confirm that this is true.

The worst thing would be, having to complete mainstory again to get Duty Finder up and running with all instances..

For now I'm trying to beat hardcore primal battles before I switch, just incase I can't progress further after catching up with the new GC.

Hopefully someone who has some insight can confirm what actually has to be repeated.

I read that you need to be Second Lieutenant to change grand companies is this true and if so why are the restrictions on changing so high? I chose the Immortal Flames but would prefer to switch to The Maelstrom in Limsa Lominsa I don't want to do ranks for a company I have no desire to be a part of.

I agree that Second Lieutenant is too high to change, especially since when you accept the grand company on Lv 20 you can't abandon it and choose another one. Merely accepting the quest automatically restricts you to that GC until you completed Mainstory and finished ranking up.. It's a bit harsh imo. But anyway, I have done it now and am ready to change GC, but like I stated in previous posts I don't want to do it until I know the consequences in more detail..

bumping, anyone got any info on this yet? what happens to instances in duty finder after switching GC? Will we have to redo all of the mainstory to join dungeons and unlock new ones?

    best regards

Ok so to clarify for anyone who's thinking of changing GC's, I just did.

In 1.0 I was in Immortal Flames, in ARR I selected Twin Adder when prompted by mainstory.

Now that I reached Serpent Sergeant rank in Twin Adder, I was told I could switch GC.

So I went to Ul'dah and talked to the personell officer for Immortal Flames, switched over and noticed to my great surprise that I got my rank and GC Seals back from 1.0!

Also, duty finder is fully updated as I thought it would be, no need to re-do any story missions.

The only thing that has to be done again is the 2 GC specific missions får Darkhold and Amdapor, not a big worry.

    best regards

EinBebop, so you don't need to wait until Second Lieutenant to be able to change GC? Which NPC do you talk to?

I read from other forum post, those people who change GC, they need 30 days to be approved? Is that right?
