Can i transfer a character from a JP server to a NA server?

I've officially given up on attempting to log into the NA servers, just cant get in, not happening. I heard that we are all getting a free world transfer in september so we can actually pick a server that our friends play on. My question is, If i make a toon on the JP servers now so i can actually play the game, can i transfer that toon to a NA server when it comes time for the free transfer? or is the fact that they fall under different groups going to prevent that from happening?

Same, playing alone at the moment, havent made significant friendships... I just want to go to a server where if i hit play game, i will actually play, not spamming the ZERO key to get in

Pretty sure I read either in a letter or on mog station that free world transfers will be in September (probably after the servers are fixed)

Any idea after the server change do you have to do all guests again or do thease save? I am sure all items and job rank stays right?

I'd like to know officially if any server transfers will be possible soon at all.

I'm currently on a server with a friend of mine, but character creation on it has been suspended.

Another friend of mine wanted to use his long 4-day weekend to buy FF14 and join our server. However, since that is not possible, he is thinking of creating a toon on ANOTHER server, then switching over if characters can be transferred.

However, more likely, unless I can find an OFFICIAL confirmation that they will allow transfers, he will decide NOT to play FF14 at all so he doesn't risk the time wasted. After his break he won't have much free time, so he'd just wait for CoD: Ghost or something.

The crazy domino effect of this is that two of his co-workers were going to join in with him, along with one of his co-worker's friends, so that's 4 people that wouldn't buy the game (and if they are doing something else myself and my friend that ARE playing would probably not renew our subscription).
