Here is my opinion below:-
1. when a mage/whm sleeps a target, SMN can't bane them else it would break their sleep. If SMN bane, it will most likely steal aggro or tank get hits a lot more thus adding strain to the healer.
*Bane AoE radius is a joke. Remember when i bane the enemy in front of the tank and those mobs hitting slightly behind the tank are not getting the Dots spread
2. In a single target situation (Ifrit, Titan, boss) no bane what-so-ever is involved, and thus SMN's dps is significantly lower than the rest.
*The bright side of SMN is even when you are on the run, DoTs is still hurting the boss.
3. In fight that needs to down target fast or else it is wipe (1st and last boss of Sunken temple), SMN's dot just isn't ticking fast enough.
The movement is a non-issue as BLM have swiftcast and scathe.
