It's because your dots are weaker without the buff, and can't overlap the buffed dots. The summoner does not need buff. He needs some QOL changes. There are so many things that are so wrong and making it sometimes difficult to do what we are supposed to do.
But I have a question for you Kevee... when I use raging strike (the 20% damage buff from archer) and then dot the mob... I can't refresh my dot when the buff is gone... the mob is "unaffected"... that is really frustrating -_-
Am I missing something here ? Thanks for the answer !
the zam parser properly tracks dots.
archers hae two dots of greater potency than ours plus several 140-190 nukes, two of which are off the gcd and can be macro'd to everything else.
our threat becomes higher than the others the second you do any healing whether it by physick to yourself or just a sustain. you can't base anything on threat.
the debuff limit means the class should and would be sat for 24 man raiding.
the lack of on-demand burst means there are encounters where we are not only not ideal, but may hamper the groups progress. that's not an opinion, it's a fact.
Dixa don't bother everyone said the things that need to be improved or changed. You are not going to convince Kevee or nimuniverse of anything we just have to wait for square to make the appropriate buffs and changes. I am just enjoying my hellfire war- I mean black mage.
Changes will come in time.

which is why unless yo uare in a full group you will never do better than bronze on the large fates like odin, svara and behemoth and why the class will be outright shut out unless you are a scholar when it comes to 24 man raiding. debuff limit appears to be about 35-40 and every class brings 3-4 debuffs. each.
it baffles the mind that square is this stupid, to make the same mistake blizzard made that turned warlocks into nothing but stamina bots in vanilla wow. a mistake made nearly 9 years ago.
There was an update today, and I haven't been able to log in to the game, but previously the Zam parser did not register Bio2, Bio, or Shadow Flare as damage. It also didn't register Monk's Demolish, and possibly some other spells. Perhaps they have fixed this today, but I have not been able to test that.the zam parser properly tracks dots.

-No parser properly tracks DoTs because they are not in the combat log. At all.
-No they don't. Now, I'm not saying we're stronger than BRDs(they are the top DPS), but Bio II is 350 potency vs Windbite's 320, and Miasma is 320 potency versus Venomous Bite's 310. Then we also have Thunder and Bio which are 240 a piece.
-Why are you doing healing?
-I agree, it is a major issue(even for BRDs) and needs to be looked at.
-The only encounter we are not good for at the moment is Titan, and that's because whoever gets encased--Our DoTs don't affect the shell.
When you guys are counting dps from the smn are you taking into the effect the amount of dmg ifrit is dumping on people. I have noticed it makes a big big difference. Smn is damage over time class. The damage out put of the smn might not match other dps classes, but with the pet smn do hold their own. They are a pet class, not a solo with out pet dps class.
Garuda is included (no one bothers to use Ifrit) in their damage, yes. Garuda does almost the same damage as Ifrit, is ranged, and has the DoT extension, so there is right now no reason to ever use Ifrit. When you guys are counting dps from the smn are you taking into the effect the amount of dmg ifrit is dumping on people. Enkindle on Ifrit is better than Garuda, and for the purposes of DPS'ing a boss Ifrit is superior. The DoT extension is only nice when you have to deal with adds and don't want the dot's to fall off while you deal with them.
Ifrit also has a stun for an interrupt in ase you don't have a paladin in the group.
Garuda is better ST over the course of a fight. Contagion is a 725 potency "attack" CD every minute, not including when mixed in with RS. That more than makes up for the difference in auto-attack damage skills.Enkindle on Ifrit is better than Garuda, and for the purposes of DPS'ing a boss Ifrit is superior. Optimally, you want to Enkindle+Ifrit and then Swiftcast Garuda-Egi.
Note: This isn't always viable due to invulnerability phases.
Btw, the DoT extension only works on your current target. You can bane afterwards, but if the 15% chance hits to reset DoT timer..It will reset to the lower timer.
