    Log Locations

In Phase 3 Beta when you looked at a mob to hunt in the log it would show you a general area where to hunt. This feature is missing in the game now. Was there a particular reason for dropping it and is there a possibility of adding it back. It was a major help.

It's still there. Highlight your cursor over the grayed out "progress bar" in the log, and it will give you a vague location. Sometimes mobs can be found outside the area listed; sometimes you have to "widen" your search slightly into adjacent areas.

Errggh! So tedious trying to find the locations for some of these. Like trying to find Grounded Pirates - Middle La Noscea - Summerford.

I agree. I wish the hunting logs were like quests when they sent you to find monsters. Give us a red circle on the map so we know where to start HUNTING. If anything, give the red circle of interest on the map if you select the monster from the hunting log. That would make things easier and faster to accomplish the log.

you know its called a hunting log, you have to HUNT for them, the name HUNTING log gives that away, you know HUNT for them to fill the HUNTING log, just sayin

I have found so far that the locations are correct. Some maps will have larger areas with the name kind of off to the side or middle. Sometimes you just have to thoroughly explore the area, and search all nearby areas. One thing I started doing when doing my hunting log is to bring up the map. For me it goes opaque so I have to drag the map image around (not move the actual window just the map inside) And it will tell you the Zone you are in so for example Central Thanalan, and under it it will show you say Black Brush.

You can use that to map out the general area and I can almost guarantee that you will find your mob in the 'greater' area. Although my suggestion, add more areas to the map to cover the huge expanses so that we can get a more 'narrower' idea of where to look for said monster to hunt.

I like the way the hunting log is at the moment. It makes me hunt for those mobs and open up more of the area. Its a nice addition to your standard point and go questing. When in doubt just carry on with class quests or go do some side quests. You'll run into them eventually.

I like that there is no "big red circle".
I like exploring and finding things on my own unlike all the other spoonfeeding MMO's out there. I'm glad they're sticking to even some of the 'hardcore' elements i fell in love with in FFXI way back when.

I'd love for them to remove the red circles from quests aswell! But that would lose them customers because of the "i want it now"-masses, that have joined the genre with WoW.
