Just sayin', this post is not helping your case.Balk? No.
If you bought an auto, I would tilt my head and wonder if you bought a gun, car, or the evil robot from WALL-E.
If you bought an automobile, I would raise my eyebrow and wonder what sort of classy antique auction sold you that "automobile."
You bought a vehicle...? Was it a ship? A plane? A wormhole? Bus?
And if you bought a ride, well... either you bribed someone for a ride home, or you paid them for...
I only call something a toon if it's accompanied by "Cartoon" Graphics (like WoW). Otherwise it's always Character.
Even then I don't like calling something a toon.. just sounds degrading :/.
character, char or toon... I use them all at random. They're just words, they all reference to the avatar a person is playing with. To consider one or the other offensive or unrefined is giving them more significance than they are worth.
Character, flat out.
Though it's revolting hearing them called toons, it's their prerogative to do so. I won't get out the steak knife over it.
Character. Toon is one of those terms that I never liked when I heard it from WoW players. It's like cupine.
I've used the term Toon since the days of EverQuest, long before WoW. It's just what was coined at the time as what our character is, I still use the term and if people don't like it then oh well. There is no politically correct term to begin with, just what our opinion on what they should be called. It's been around for at least 13/14yrs as I've been playing MMO's since 1999. I see some players bash others in chat just because they say toon, who cares!! If you spend that much time being a jerk over their preference to call their TOON or CHARACTER or AVATAR, get over it. There's other things to talk about and many other things to worry about than this.
I haven't used the name 'toons' in quite a while. I prefer characters over anything else.
Character, toon sounds so odd. The general term is actually avatar so dont event know how toon came about.
I also ignore (or send messages to) people who say PST, because 'please say tell' sounds like they dont know english. Dont mind it at all if they say send tell or anything along those lines.

PST - Please Send Tell, just an acronym, which to me makes sense. I'm guessing you also ignore players who say ARC? ARN? THM? What about when someone asks LFG? It appears you don't know English as well
Character, anything...anything but toon.
